  • The this way that way place was setting up for a street part when I went through. Where was it? I did not note it down.

  • Blackheath Lane, I think

  • Nice pictures, Joe. How did the dog walk tonight, Sam?

  • Good pics man, almost forgot the balloon penis.

  • Sam,

Thanks for chaperoning, had a great time.

  • This Saturday the 27th we are doing a ride from London to Bournemouth. The route will either be the one in the first post (probably) or along the A30. I would prefer the one in the first post.

Pifko has a train which arrives at Woking at 07:27 or Waterloo at 07:53.

I would rather not fuck about riding out of London as it's a fucking slow shitty stop-start pothole pollution fest. I say we get up bright and early and get the 07:00 train (arrives 07:26) from Clapham Junction to Woking and meet Pifko there. The train ticket is £6.90 (or £4.55 with railcard) and can be used on ANY train, so no problem with missing train. Pifko doesn't mind waiting a little bit.

Gonna be dark by about 4pm and so I think doing 110 miles most likely against a strong prevailing headwind starting about 07:30 is not unreasonable. Who's in?

Edit: Weather forecast is 7C, sunny with 9mph headwind. Although I wouldn't be on that being accurate 7 days in advance.

  • him

  • hehe, i like dat

  • in, as long as all participants are suitably equipped, clothed, nourished, fit and have done rides of 100miles plus.

  • Couple of notes regarding the route...

Avoid Heath Lane which is an off-road gauntlet (31 miles)
Also, there is a bridle way marked (46 miles) divert via Boundry Rd and Dockenfield St

    cheers braker
will look at alt ways around those bits

  • Pft they are two of the highlights of the route, impromptu off roading.

  • ^ not so keen on the muddy arse affect. prefer to keep mtb and road separate.

  • looks like the weekend could be a little nippy.
may have to invest in new gloves as fabric roubaix ones i have may not cut it.
hope everyone else has cold weather gear.

  • we're going to get fucked up by polar bears and shit.
    funtimes.

  • You'll be moving with the wind, so wind chill will have less of an effect. 1 degree isn't too cold, you'll soon warm up once you get going.

  • yup, should be fine.
i'm going to do it in a sleeveless skinsuit to show everyone how hard i am.

  • NNW wind
    WSW travel direction

Almost a perfect crosswind. Shouldn't slow us down much, but will still get a lot of wind chill.

  • crosswind?
lets try the echelon again. a great excuse to take up the whole road.

  • Train ticket booked from Clapham Junction to Woking. Anytime Day Single £4.55 (£6.90 w/o railcard). Intending to catch 07:00 train to arrive in Woking at 07:26 but it's an "Anytime" ticket so like I said before no problem if we miss it.

  • Haven't decided yet whether to come back at 9pm on Saturday or some time on Sunday.

    RAWR

"Feels" is going up and the wind is going down. Looking good.

  • still chilly though.
i may need to get some tights - 3/4s might not do it this time.
i guess a shitload of "embrocation" might help though.
