these are in sale on CRC

look great, will let you know how they go, ordered yesterday.
I have these for summer use on my MTB.
Fast rolling on the road and great on dry trails, shifty in the gloop but overall quite impressed. My only concern is that the rubber cracks on the sidewalls, two pairs both sets cracked during two summers use.

Brilliant heads up, cheers. At that price, I can get a pair delivered without fear of customs etc.

They do more than one
At least 2 road/touring + 2 MTB/trekking

What Max sez
Sorry. :)
I can't see how you can say that it's a grippy tyre in the wet. I found it to be really slidy when wet. (No, it wasn't aquaplaning)

kenda kwick trax are very good, but tricky to get hold of in the UK I believe. my mrs has been using them (32c) for the last year and despite the fact she seems to be a glass magnet has only punctured once.
I'm running 32c vitorria randonnuers front and back and am happy with them. seem to be grippy enough, were a pain to get on though.

We haven't even got onto "special winter air" for your tyres yet. Give it time....

When I lived in Oslo I used Nokian Hakkapeliitta for winter riding. I don't really feel there's much point in special tyres in London. Most of the time it's just wet, and on the odd day where it does ice over just take it easy.

I usually use thin (23c) folding tyres, Lithions have been great for this, but my new rim is a wider touring rim and i need a minimum of 28, can anyone recommend a lightweight 28c tyre? I don't care for skidding

I was going to suggest some bonty's myself. Havent seen the folding hardcases for a while though. Read a great review on them.
Allterraincycles has a good bonty range.

Michelin Mud on the front and Vittoria XG pro on the rear worked well for me - until I switched to tubs. I don't like the Michelin Muds on the rear - don't seem to get much traction when it gets really muddy.

Replaced my worn front 23C Rubino Pro with a 25C Conti GP 4 Season the other day, after a hairy moment riding downhill in the wind and rain last week. Have to say, it doesn't feel like they're any better on slippery stuff like cobbles or painted lines (although I have no desire to "test" where the limit of the grip is). Expensive too.
I am a fan of the GP4000S, mind. They are great in fast downhill cornering (on the road bike) and they wear well.

Was wondering when you were going to pick that up and get smug..
Well yeah, I've defended them in the past but fuck, I said it..
I'm not buying anymore bloody gatorskins— unfortunately have 2 unused at home that will have to go on the Gazelle tonight, but after that... No more shouting at punctures in the rain, no more bleeding fingers trying to get those difficult bastards onto rims in the dark when I forget my tyre levers... no more!

Vredestein Fiammante DuoComp Road Tyre 700 have proven an affordable and relatively skid resistant tyre for me...not done a winter in them yet though

I don't think there's any tyres that can grip on the slipperly cobble/painted line/manhole cover.
the closest one I just managed to get a good grip on the painted line is a 2.35 Fat Frank tyres on the ATB, but that's about it.
