I believe this belonged to a forum member but I picked it up on ebay a little while ago. The plans are to bring it back to its original 1951 glory but unfortunately money is tight so I have had to steal parts from my other bikes to get it going. Its actually amazing to ride as it is but just feels kind of wrong with those wheels, brake and chainset. The lacquer is cracking off all over the shop but I’m not sure If I have the heart to get it resprayed yet seeing as the paint is original. Any tips on protecting the bare metal spots?

it should a bit, what stem length are you currently riding?
Usually 90mm, which would generally be my min. On this it's 80mm.
With your crank in that horizontal position, is your right knee pretty much in-line vertically with the pedal axle?
No idea yet. But ill check.
With nil/negative saddle to bar drop and a tiny stem and saddle that far forward I think that frames too big for you mate.
Yep. The TT length is just short enough for me to male it work tho. I bought it to strip, but now thinking this is a better bet, than the frame I've got. I wanted to see if I could get it to work. If I like it and sell some stuff I'll pick up a new one in the right size. It's a bit annoying that the Dolan's don't come in a size smaller, bc they're a fair bit cheaper than the PX.
Also just realised the cable pull is stiff and juddery compared to my road bike. I'm hoping it's just shit routing and I don't have to fork out for new outers and inners.

@ chrobin
how much of the stuff are you able to buy off the shelf and how much is custom made specifically for the bike ?are there any standard 26TPI threads anywhere
or is it all engineered to fit -

Well, it will be when you get a stem with more angle to it so you can ditch the big spacer stack. Get a spacer on top of the stem too, trust me.
Job done I hope gone from 6 degree rise to 10 I must say I like the look of the stem much stiffer than the Planet x

Carlton all stripped. I have put the primer and first couple of coats on the fork, waiting on chain extractor coming via ebay to start on frame (white). NOS raleigh headset coming hilary and a set of carlton decals from Ebay too.

New frame came in yesterday, nice and tight. 60 cm c-c seattube and 56 cm c-c toptube.
Probably let it have a new paintjob since this one is a spaycan thing.
Don´t know the brand but I´ll post som photos of the lugs when I get home, some one might know something... -

@dicki. Everything is custom made or customized. The whole steering thing is custom made with non bike parts. The reason is I couldn't find any off the shelf solution that was narrow enough. This headset is only 24mm at it's widest.
First layer of paint.
great! really exciting to see it coming together!

OK, so a lot of problems with my bottom bracket were solved today when a nice chap at BLB gave me a shorter cup I could install on the left hand side. The one supplied with my Sugino cartridge BB was too deep/long so it stuck out from the shell about 8 mm or so. This gave me all sorts of problems; having to center the BB with a few mill sticking out each side, the BB unscrewing itself when used, having the cups scraping against the cranks etc etc.
I had bought a 103 as that is the width of my BB shell, but I was unaware that the size of the cups matter. How can I avoid this problem when I buy my next BB? (Which is definitely going to be a spindle btw.)

is that the usual solution? sounds near impossible to saw down the cup without fucking up the threads.
