  • had a 'moment' where the BB seemed to have cross threaded (fucking shitty UN54 plastic caps) but we're all good now. only thing left is the griptape which has been in the post for the last 2 weeks :x

  • Not exactly a current project but, winter is upon us and I finally crumbled and bought myslef a winter/commuter bike (hangs head in shame), as my summer bike just not going to survive the winter if it's anything like last year... after much searching etc and seeing what i can do with my cyclescheme I got this:

Humm sorry for massive pic...downsized it loads but alas it's still having e off! Anyway full Sram, hydro discs, light as feck, just switching pedals to my shimano clips and it's done...rides like a dream and should keep me going for the winter :)

  • Just swapped my old exage calipers for chorus ones, you can really notice the difference.

  • the mike kowal has wheels! cxp14 front/ cxp30 rear. vittoria randonneur onto cxp14 destroyed my thumbs. also got a shimano 600 tricolour group to go on.

how do i put a brake through this rear bridge? it makes no sense, but that's the nut.

thinking about just htfu and losing the guards. few questions:

    1) touring on deep V's, very stiff? aching wrists? it's 853 so i'm guessing it has some give

    2) it's already ugly, so should i sticker up/write on/ugly up the frame to avoid theft (in SE london)?

    3) is there any rack that I can clamp my D lock to?

    4) can i put a shimano axle in my campagnolio BB? the campy isn't working with my 600 chainset, it touches the frame when it spins.

    THANKS!

  • You just need to get a bolt with a hole in it so the brake will go through, like this;

  • where would i get one of these? LBS?

  • this better, and only £1 for SJS

  • How the hell do you get that metal bolt thru the bridge?

  • Put a few washers between the mudguard and the bridge if you have the clearance.

  • I don't see how either of those will work. Just cut down the bolt so that it doesn't protrude as far, surely?

Give that man the cigar - neither of the other "solutions" will work

  • Wow, MDCC agreed with some of my advice. Now all I need is for Scoble to take the piss out of me and I win at the forum.

  • thanks, that i will do. anyone know about putting shimano axle in campag bb? thats the main importance issue now

  • Surely that depends on the bearings that each bb uses. Why not just get a shimano bb? Sealed would be better for touring anyway?

Tifosi bb come in ISO/JIS & Italian/British and in lots of lengths.

  • sounds like logic, how do i then work out how long the axel needs to be?

  • The bike that's fucking bankrupting me. Never buy a bike just before you go on holiday and have to pay rent :(

New drops on their way, then it's just putting the front canti on and dialing it all in. I'm hoping compact drops will allow me to move the seat back a bit, but I guess I'll live with the TT position if I have to.

  • it should a bit, what stem length are you currently riding?

  • With your crank in that horizontal position, is your right knee pretty much in-line vertically with the pedal axle?

  • With nil/negative saddle to bar drop and a tiny stem and saddle that far forward I think that frames too big for you mate.

  • ^what he said

  • Yeah, looks it. Too little seatpost for a compact geo frame aswell.

  • I'm getting there. Hope to have the Obree build up and running in about a week.

The glide bearing for the stearing

    The stearing thing

    Payment for stearing thing

    Might be cool.

On the way to get painted

  • i wonder if even 1 person on the street will know what that is as you ride past!

  • That's a nice looking bike you've got strapped to that nice looking bike.

Thanks! It's my homebuilt Porteur bike. Big front racks is the best, very practical.
