I've also just experimented with a new technique to squeeze more life out of the soles. Did it on my Dragons, to adjust for a 1mm shim I've got between the cleat and the sole i.e. get an extra 1mm depth on the lugs.
Took out the 2 inserts either side of the cleat; drew round them on an old (sliced open) inner tube; cut out inner tube bits; poked holes in them for screws; sandwiched them between sole and lugs.
Seems to work well - gives that tiny extra bit of clearance for the cleat, but doesn't interfere with the lugs seating properly.
Will do it on the Eagles in a few years' time…
Nice idea Scarlett, will do that the next time my Sidis are dry enough to handle.
