  • Some years ago a mob group of Chelsea supporters was travelling to Leicester, among them Greenaway, the legendary Zigger Zagger man. As the special train trundled northwards, they sang and among the songs that they sang was the one which went:

    We hate Nottingham Forest
    We hate Liverpool too
    We hate Man United
    But Chelsea we love you.

Given their destination, Greenaway inserted a descant:

    We hate Nottingham Forest
We hate Liverpool too - and Leicester
    We hate Man United
    But Chelsea we love you.

It was then sung at the match and the descant stuck.

When the tune was borrowed for the song

    We all follow the Chelsea
    Over land and sea
    We all follow the Chelsea
    On to victory

    the descant was retained, thus:

    We all follow the Chelsea
Over land and sea - and Leicester
    We all follow the Chelsea
    On to victory.

And so it is sung today when most people have forgotten who Leicester are.
