Photoben, did you really just write all of that?
Very insightful. Top stuff there. Most of them have eluded me, but im working on it.
Yup it was a song from '99 by Baz Lurhman (director of Romeo & Juliet). I tried put a quote header on it, but the post was to big!

I was gonna say the sunscreen thing was a bit silly, but the rest seems good.

Own a fancy frame and you're worried about the paintwork? Get some "helicopter" tape:
http://www.vikingtapes.co.uk/Aerospace/3M_Helicopter_Tapes/
It's not visible, but it will protect that NOS frame while locked outside the pub in side the bike pile.
Ride it for a year, re-sell on the forum as NOS. -

When setting up calliper brake cables: before you tighten the cable pinch bolt first tighten the barrel adjuster a turn or two. Then squeeze the pads against the rim, pull the cable tight and tighten the bolt to hold it. Finally, loosen the barrel adjuster to move the pads away from the rim. I find this easier, quicker and more predictable than trying to guess the right gap with both pads waggling around.

To remove a stubborn freewheel, balance the wheel against a wall and stand on the spanner. Works every time.

Every time I get a new pair of converse shoes, or other laced canvas ones, I do a new pattern. That's a new pattern every 6 months, roughly :)
