  • +1 to the Vietnamese option, went to Mien Tay a while ago, lush. Santa Maria del Buen Ayre on Broadway Market is very good a for steak.

  • Another vote for Mien Tay here, their food is awesome, plenty of veggie choice too if that's your thing!

  • mmmm that looks pretty tasty on the website, thats food sorted now just need a good night to go get hammered at.

on another note, anyone ever been here http://www.beachblanket.co.uk/restaurant.html

  • Been once and in no rush to go back. Snooty staff so so food and stuck up out of town clientele.
Still walk/cycle past there most days and the people that are sat outside make my want to POC.

  • *Cancels reservation

  • Hanoi Cafe is a bit shit IME... I like the food at Bar Kick, tho' I haven't been there in a while...

  • *Cancels reservation

    Good decision.
Paradise by Way of Kensal Green is close by and a whole lot better, usually some good offers available on toptable and the like. The pub has lost it's charm since the refit but the food is definitely better.

  • Ecco pepperoni pizza, somehow making my hangover better...

  • on a side note - went to lisboa grill nee the gallery - brixton hill - last night on this very forums reccommendation - cocking awesome it was - fish stew thing and chicken, best i've ever had. and they didnt charge me for a wine top-up. go there! run - don't walk!

  • Good decision.

I'm moving to Kensal Green in two weeks :p

  • PBWOGK is a lovely pub. do they still have the faux goffy grave stone angels thing going on?

  • Just eating a massive portion of spag bol from Bada Bing!s, Clerkenwell's premier Italian cafe.

  • @gatti, early welcome to NW-ish London.
@ catfood, kind of, they've got one left I think, it's nowhere near as nice as say 7+ years ago but that's gentrification for you I guess.

  • Bada Bing!s

read that as 'Bada Bingis' and thought italian curry joint. which someone should do!

aah. the landlady there was (is?) lovely. anyone know the name of the nice little thai joint around the corner?

  • boys, no jokez.

  • that's the bad boy. so to speak.

    Yep... disappointing. Tay Do FTW.

Ate a degustation menu menu for lunch yesterday at a restaurant called A Perfect Drop in Daylesford in Oz. One of the best meals I've ever had.

This is anchovies on toast with quail egg.

Followed by pistacio terrine, salt cod croquettes, grilled garfish, lamb dolmades, rare roast venison. All local ingredients washed down with half a dozen or so wheat beers from a local microbrewery the name of which escapes me. Will go back before I leave.

  • Looks and sounds lovely. I ate some very nice food in Oz, in Noosa - some local fish, barramundi, all very imaginatively cooked and presented

  • Barramundi can be a lovely fish when it's done right...
I've got a kilo and a half of curry goat roasting in the oven on a very low heat... Jah bless...

  • I just put a shoulder joint in for bbq pulled pork, slow roasting/steaming over some cider. Its enough for 3 hungry people apparently, so I guess there'll be tonnes of left-overs for sandwiches in the week, woop.

Edit: Its totally ruined. 'Helpful' housemate turned the oven up to gm7. FFS.

  • Winter recipe.
I'm doing potted duck&chicken, just now.
If it turns out alright, I'll bring some for degustation at the Portuguese nosh-up.

  • And here it is. Absolutely top-shelf meaty awesomeness.
And sealed it can last up to 5 months.

  • Awesome.

    I love potted things.

Fuck it... im gonna have a go at that.
