  • Has anyone had any experience of ordering through fatbirds.co.uk? Just wondering as they're arsing me around a little bit..

  • I have in the past. Not the quickest, but reliable and occasionally very cheap indeed.

  • Only once, totally fine

  • Bought a Van Nicholas frame through them and they faffed about for a couple of weeks getting it from Holland and needed a couple of calls to get it sorted. They were, by some distance the cheapest deal though.
Bought a wheel jig through them a couple of weeks ago and it turned up next day.

  • Bought a saddle. Waited 2.5 weeks (the time that they allow) was told that they had sent it. Went to the guy downstairs in my block of flats and it had been there for 2 weeks. They managed to get the right address on the invoice but not the outer bag.........

  • once, a shimano front wheel, cheapest on web i could find

  • I had to chase them up over a saddle. As others have said, not particularly professional but occasionally v cheap.

  • n of 1 but we made a bike recco to a customer and she put a deposit down on a bike and they then sold it and were stunningly unhelpful and failed to offer any solution, other than returning the dosh. Truly crap service, no idea if that's business as usual or not for them.

  • Fenella bought some wheels from them, friendly prompt service.

  • Ordered some spokes from them and had to wait two weeks for delivery.
I don't remember ever waiting that long for item that was in stock.
They don't even bother to send an usual email saying that your order has dispatched blah blah.
Might give them another chance though (paid only 27.99 for a box of 100 dt swiss db butted with nipples)

  • My wife bought me a saddle from there for my birthday, albeit the wrong one. She contacted them about changing it and they were apparently very pleasant and helpful. Both times the saddle was delivered quickly and was cheaper than anywhere else. We'd certainly recommend them in our experience.

  • Ordered spokes from them once. Fairly prompt, cheaper than anywhere else I could find. No email updates about dispatch/delivery. Took 2 days to dispatch, 5 total to arrive. So, overall, mainly "meh" with a side of "cheap".

  • I tried to buy a frame off of them once.

They made out of was in stock, but a day later told me that it wasn't. Kept on moving the ETA back, but they were very quick to take money out of my account. I asked for a refund, and got radio silence, and had to chase to get the re-fund. apparently the guy had gone home sick, but I don't care when it comes to them owing me £500.

  • I must say I'm very underwhelmed by their service. I ordered some bars 2 weeks ago today, by 1 week ago no show, so I emailed them. They assured me the bars "should" be with me by last weekend. Still no show, so I emailed them to ask for money back; radio silence. Come yesterday, I emailed them again to request my money back and they came back to me, kind of apologetic and assured me that they had the bars in stock and could send them to (free) overnight.

Which kind of begged the question, if the bars were in the shop, why weren't they in the post to me?

Their prices are very good, but I get the impression that they don't physically hold much stock and are very reliant on third-parties distributing goods on their request. Just goes to show, if something looks too good to be true...

Shame, I'm sure they're lovely people really.

  • Bought some bits from them couple of times. Always quick delivery and very good prices.

  • I ordered some black death from them and it arrived in the 15th century about 500 years before I paid for it, so very prompt, unfortunately it wiped out my entire village and I was never even born, which really sucks.

  • Only once, totally fine

    +1. £5 P&P though...

  • I believe they're reasonably local to me, over here in East Angular. I know someone who uses them and is happy. Never ordered myself though.

  • Not been myself, but this is around the corner from a mate's parents house. He's been in there a number of times (he's looking at a Van Nicholas). He seems happy enough with them -

Seems to be older folks who run it... like an old school lbs that's been dragged into the modern age of the internet. But they seem genuine and helpful!

  • Ordered a Brooks saddle which they insisted was left in my shed (the delivery address was to my office in Kensington; no sheds around to my knowledge) and it took a lot of emailing and phoning before I could get a refund. Seem a bit unreliable.

  • Ordered my MW80 boots from them on Monday, turned up this morning. Can't argue with that when they had the best price and free p&p.

  • All set for more MTBing then?

  • Not this weekend, and I need to fix the break cable and true my rear wheel but other than that hells yes.

  • Awesome sauce. You're feet are going to be warmer and drier than mine :-)

  • ordered a brooks 3 weeks ago.. after telephone and email, they said they were not in stock.. and were waiting to get stock from brooks, web site said they were in stock, still says. nearly 3 weeks wait is a bit much when comms are poor.
