The front and rear brakes will have different lengths of spindle/bolts. Making it clear which is which.

Ive never heard of this phenomena though.

Not sure as to answer your question accurately, but wouldn't the length of the bolt ascertain whether it is meant for front or rear brake?

Use front. Use legs for the rear one.
