I've got an old battered steel pair in t'garage.

I'm also after a narrow front wheel - 23/25mm would be great and looking for something as cheep as chips.
I manage to bust my wheel cycling straight into a curb at full steam... got up, called my mate who i was going to meet that i was going to be late, went home and put on some plasters and took out the spare bike! That was 4 weeks ago and i'm still recovering!

I've got a spare set of tyres, one is fairly knackered from skids. The other still has plenty of life. Not sure you'll find people giving away perfect tyres.

Heya Mark, for what happened I'm really lucky. I got out with just cuts and scrapes, but banged up my left knee a bit, but it's nothing time won't heal.
On a side note, I've finally managed to get to the bike project and have the chain and cabling left to do, so it should be ready pretty soon!

£35 is the cheapest new 23mm wheels I could find - Borwell, Streetlife, Specialised and Velo Cycles all have them from time to time

Thanks for the info. I'll hold out for a second hand one for a bit longer and failing that I'll go to one of these places.
Any particular reason you didn't mention pedal revolution?
-
• #361
£35 is cheaper than certain trading cards that you were looking for! Yep, I'm crossing forum beams.
Ped Rev are fine, in my limited experience of them. -
• #362
They probably didn't mention pedal revs, coz they are pretty pricey generally. Also go and have a look @ the wheels they have hanging up! Most of the are £500+ per pair... Sweet I know!

yea, the cheapest narrow wheels they had were about £140 for a pair, I think.
All the other shops stock the exact same wheel as each other, I forget the brand but I've seen them around and also had some 27" ones from the same source.

I was playing with my noisy Hope wheels this morning. Need to get them on a bike before I wear the bearings out.
-
• #365
The bearings or the cassette? Hehehehe
-
• #366
Anyone got some decent drop brakes? Thinking of putting drops back on for the winter months and one of the springs in my brakes is shot and it doesn't spring back, it just stays there looking sad.
-

I love clicky hope hubs, I used to clean the majority of the grease out of them so they were louder. the profile of a nice deep rim seems to work as a sound box and amplifies the clickiness too!
-
• #368
Nice. I remember I put grease in the teeths and pawls on my bmx hub once thinking it would increase the quality. It just. Had to be cleanes up to make a loud click again!
Prim Cassette hubs were always the loudest BMX hubs. Think that was due to the pawls...

There isn't a cassette on it yet. I'm just grabbing the freehub body and giving it a damn good spin. It'll be great for road rides whenever someone needs to pick up the pace. It shouts: "GGGRRRRR, I'M FREEWHEELINGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Am feeling quite sad got out-bidded on a mavic ma40 rim on ebay in the last 8 secs!!! SODS LAW

Sorry don't know what you mean! Free wheel in? Nah sorry. You gotta tell me bout this place where wheels are free.
Shit to one side, forgot a cassette is another word for a large selection of rear wheel sprockets! A bmx hub is called a cassette hub due to it having pawls and teeth inside the driver (the bit, I asume that the sprockets go on) but just one cog!

Sparky, these all new bits for the Donny creation?
I was at the workshop the other day looking at the rendering of your bike, looks great man!
-
• #373
Yeah, been draining my bank account for a couple of months bidding on this stuff. Nowhere near done yet. Still, it will all be worth it next summer.
Need to catch up with him and have a look over the latest plans really. How's yours coming along? That thing is amazing. I can't wait until we're allowed to post pictures up here.

• #374
Hahahaha, yeah he has dne so much good shit now. That racer with vintage lugs he is currently on atm looks dope!
-
• #375
I feel your pain, I just paid for all the parts for my other bike, plus I need to pay to go pick it up, all just in time for shitty winter weather so not really going to be that keen on riding it in the salty shit conditions.
I think Donny was planning on painting next week as the bare frames were all supposed to be photographed this, but I think its fallen through.
I am super excited about having it built and ridable, I have two new bikes all paid for and not able to do anything with either of them yet.....
AAAAGGGGGGHHHH!
