I love le corbusier too, was quite inspired by the exhibition they had at Barbican recently, I'm a big fan of Mies van der Rohe myself, more for architecture than furniture, am sick to death of being asked to put Barcelona chairs in places by clients who think it's the bees knees, corporates have done for that what you say the rocker and Banksy brigade have done for Eames. Unite Berlin sounds like a great idea for a visit.

Yeah I think you’re right, was quite a sad story I thought, seemed to be one catastrophe after another, to me it seemed just to big a site / project to manage, be a real shame if it doesn’t work out
Your own Corbusier house, wow! That would have been special :) those TGV’s do rattle along at a good speed though
Sounds like you have had some great trips, I’d love to do something similar one day, (thanks for the link BTW) one I saw recently and would love to do is the Bernard Schwartz House (FLW) in Wisconsin, in the snow that would be great

this apartment is in the corbusierhaus berlin, it's 10 euros a night.
there's quite a few apartments in there that you can find online all cheap
i missed a flat in unite berlin by one day it was 37,500 euros. gutted
travelling to see architecture is what i love doing.if you can stay in it all the better.you can stay at the bauhaus too.
the corb and prouve shows were both very good, so was the aalto one the other year.i think theres a chipperfield show on at the design museum, he's building a building up north for the barbara hepworth foundation.

kempton antique fairs is one of the best tips you will get. first and last tuesday of every month. starts early and there are dealers from all over europe there specialising in virtually everything. the best of the best is sold before it gets there - or at least so it seems as there are always rosewood this and nelson *that *that are tucked behind the stall that they say are sold really early, but if you find a good seller and pay what they ask they will probably look after you in the future. its huge and you can spend a small fortune there very easily.
earlier today i was somewhere and the person in front of me was told that the things the were buying were going to be 112.00 they asked if they could have them for 110.00 i thought to myself why are you asking for 2.00 to be knocked off, that is so unnessasary.Sorry if i missed something but its the second and last tuesday of the month i.e like today!

the barbican towers are a top piece of real estate, the split level flats in golden lane are quite nice too.

Try mid century modern in Dulwich they have fair every few mo tha. The next one is in October, it'll be full of traders but the mark ups should be reasonable.
Alot of London dealers get their shizzle from the ardingly, south of England showground, the furniture fair is saturated with g plan and mainstream ercol, isokom and hille pieces. I've heard of people getting g plan sideboards for £150 and selling them for four times that after a clean-up.
ALWAYS look for Herman Miller when after Eames they will command a better price than Vitra and especially italian, and subsequently unlicenced, ICF in regards to office chairs. And history with stamped bases goes along way. I'd got for unusual pieces design classics such as eames DSS and early DAR's but gain Herman miller fiberglass editions.
Most dealers [and employees] can get Vitra at 50% discount providing you pick the item up from their warehouse.
Coppithat - you Jammu hit on the eames! You don't have a spare one you want to sell?! :p

Haven't been to that one but if its anything like the Vitra ones get there early as all the good stuff goes very quickly

Re the ercol drop leaf, don't treat my interest as dibs, need to have a think and don't want to hold it up

That's what I thought, don't want to go and queue up at 8 in the morning and it turns out to be a raid and end spending money on something I didn't really want.
park hill could be amazing, i'm willing it to be, as i'd like an apartment there.i was up on the roof with a guy from urban splash in the summer, a friend of mine was doing some artwork for them, it's going to look good but it's just so big it's going to take so long to finish it and there's not enough people people here to move in, it's not going to be the barbican, i think it will end up mainly social housing with the same problems.
unite de habitation is simply awesome, you should go there's an hotel there, we've been a couple of times, the new owners it trying to put back original fittings.we went a years ago and it was basic but now it's much better, the same goes for marseille.

you can also rent a room at the unite in berlin, very cheaply, also in the aalto and jacobsen blocks in the teirgarten
i love le corbusier, we nearly bought a house by him in bordeaux a few yeas back, in pessac, but bottled it as a bloody tgv line went passed the houses.it was cheap but not that cheap.
