  • sucks, dom.
    (it's chris by the way)

  • That's the funny thing about the police. There are lots of people out there with big mouths who reckon they could do a better job and yet most of them wouldn't have the guts to actually deal with some of societies' nastiest characters on a daily basis. This obviously says more about them than it does about the coppers.

Personally I've never really understood (and I'm talking about the good coppers here not the idiots that are in the force) what some people could find so awful about someone who decides they want to help their community by making it safer and keeping tabs on the scum-bags.

That may be the attitude on filling in the application form but several of my dealings would suggest otherwise.

  • Stolen from nears Guys Hospital last night - these two bikes plus a white Carrera Subway. These came right out of our back garden - we got lazy and took for granted the apparently safe area and 'landlocked' back garden would be enough deterrent to keep them safe - it had done for the last 1 and a half months. Please keep an eye out and get in touch if you see them, just noticed 2 hours ago, I'm still in shock.

Mine was from just outside KCL Guy's bar, I saw 6-7 bikes when I got there and when I came back 3 hours later they were all gone. I had been wondering if some (subhu)men with ven and cable cutters had done a sweep.

  • Has anyone has a Specialized road bike (grey) as well as two condor single speed bikes (black and grey) nicked near Mortlake? I only ask as i saw three lads riding these bikes just before. The bikes didn't fit them and it looked like the two Condor ones had spds or similar for pedals and all the lads were wearing trainers.

To be honest it's probably useless me mentioning this as I have no idea where they are or where they went. Sorry

The Specialized sounds like my wife's Dolce and the black Condor will be my fixed. Discovered about lunch time that three bikes had been lifted from the shed in our back garden. The third bike from our shed wasn't grey or single speed, it was a white geared Condor, so sounds like they've been nicking from elsewhere too.

I'll pass on the info to the officer who came round earlier to have a look. He did mention there had been other similar incidents in the area lately, so if you have a bike in the shed it may be a good idea to get it inside for now.

    Thanks for posting.

    Little. Fuckers.

Shit really sorry -I should have called the cops, wasn't sure if they respond to suss looking teenagers. If it's any help they were cycling down Sheen Lane towards Lower Richmond Rd or Mortlake High st. One white kid (who clocked me lookign at the bike) and two black kids. The one on the black Condor was pretty chubby. Not seen them round before (but I'm normally at work). If you wan to PM contact details for the officer dealing I'll keep them with me in case I see them around again.

No idea how they'll dispose of them but there are a few 2nd hand dealers locally - I'll wander round and keep an eye out.

Thanks again for the info. I'll get those details to you by PM (once I go find them!). Whereabouts are the local second hand dealers? I may nip down for a look ...

  • 2 I know of- one on Mortlake High Street- the Brewery end, next to the 'post office'. The other is on Lower Mortlake Road (on the right hand side) as you go toward the centre of Richmond ( approx 500m from the round about before Richmond Train station). I don't think they are Brick Lane Market dodgy but it's worth a look.

I'll have a gander round those tomorrow morning on the off chance. Unlikely I know, but ...

    Thanks again.

  • Hi guys, I'm new here so sorry my introduction has to be a negative one like this.

Tonight between 8pm and 11pm (Thurs 28th Oct) my 2007 red Langster (the nasty coloured one) was taken from Guy's hospital in London Bridge, 2 Abus D-locks cut clean through.

Distinguishing features are few, but it has a 48t chainring (as opposed to the standard 42), silver cranks, a very high saddle with the front worn and a piece of white velcro on the handlebars to the left of the stem. Immobitagged and police marked for all the good that is. I'll keep an eye out on gumtree I suppose...

maybe a pro bike thief working nights at guy's?

  • (Guy's hospital) Omg... sorry mate.... I saw 3 kids (1 fat black kid and 2 white kid); day ago; are riding on a black and a sliver one. There is also one white girl there too. They were smoking. I def recognise the black bike as I was looking at it and think it looks pretty nice. They were just coming out from the park near leather market and walk towards guys street.

I will keep my eye on it as well as I believe these kids are all living around in this area. There are quite a few dodgy kid lately in this area. I know some of them always hang around the alley/ carpark between cluny place and decima street and also the park outside cluny place. But not sure are they the bike thief. They normally hang around at early morning like 7 or 8, otherwise 6-8 in the evening. (not sure in the afternoon as I am at work) But before approach them, do get some back up as they are quite a big group.

  • actually getting woozy.. not sure is that fat black kid or white... but def a fat one

  • Thankyou King that's our best lead so far - I'm the owner of the silver bike by the way, Dom was posting on my behalf as he put it together for me - it was a surprise birthday present from all my friends/girlfriend and family, which makes it all the more devastating! The black one belonged to our housemate Jonny, he spent a good whack on building it from scratch this summer and sourced and bought each part for his dream bike, gonna go and have a look around the area now. Thanks again!

  • Can't believe those fucking cunts stole Blayneys Ninja! Reallyhope the bikes turn up lads!

  • That may be the attitude on filling in the application form but several of my dealings would suggest otherwise.

As I said in my original post there are idiots in the force as there are in any job, but the good coppers do an excellent job and not an easy one. That's always been my experience. But I've also had bad experiences although mainly when I was younger and more gobby - not a coincidence.

  • Had my bike stolen a couple of weeks ago and it's turned up on ebay! Police are calling me tomorrow to see what we can do but I don't have the bikes serial no. nor any recent photos (detailing any chips etc). Any chance I'll get this back? Best next step? Cheers.

  • if you don't have recent pics then old ones will have to do. Do you have a receipt if you bought it new?

This Guys hospital business is all rather disturbing. I work around there and cruise these streets every day, so I'll keep my eyes peeled. But it sounds like theives are targetting the area, which is really shit...

  • I have a sales receipt and a serial no. but that is just for the bike as a product. I've emailed the manufacturer with the code in the hope that they can use it to bring up the frame no.

  • I work around there and cruise these streets every day...

Not going to ask what you do for a living.

  • I cruise.

  • Hi King, I've had a wander around the areas you mentioned a few times in the last 2 days, no sign of the bikes unfortunately or any gangs of kids but then it is the weekend. Please keep me posted if you do see any more sightings, will definitely reward you for any info that lets me get my hands on the little thieving bastards!

the fixie in the pictures got stolen near my hotel (i dont remmember the name)

  • Check this out - clearly stolen?

    http://www.gumtree.com/london/26/67759426.html

That picture looks like it's locked up on brick lane too. Reckon he took a snap before he robbed it, or what?

  • has anyone here lost a scott genius LT ?

  • Stolen:
    Create front wheel
Reynolds Ouzo Comp carbon fork with SKS mudguard attached
Pro short road stem with choped and floped bars with white fizik tape
Rear fixed touring wheel (Black Mavic A119 laced to Novatec hub (like on-one))

It was badly locked in front of Lee's Salon on Kingsland High St. Hoxton (frame only), out of my sight and in sight of the council estate across the road. Just left it there for an hour or so on Sunday when I had lunch with my girlfriend.

I'm gonna report it to the police and the "anti-bike-theft-brigade". But if you see these items being sold or ridden, please keep me informed.

I don't really care that much about these items as they don't represent a huge sum of money invested, but the fork was graciously given to me and the rear wheel was the first wheel I ever built. I appologise for the bad locking, I was still chocked that someone just turned up during my lunch and stripped by bike bare in broad daylight on a passing street without anyone giving a shit.

So if there is any chance of getting back at the bastards, I will take as far as I legally can.

Thanks for letting me rant here :) I feel much better now.

I now need a cheap front fork quite urgently. I have 75 sapim spokes in the post for my other build I'm now going to have to rush to stop being a pedestrian/bus user :(

    Ced.
