Freekin' twitchy steering, but fast as a whippet.

ps. The replacement Zipp does my head in. The Hope rear hub is as noisy as Sumo's freehub on the Merckx

  • ^ prettttey! =)

    love the original shamal

  • It looks like I've sold the Ian Piper. I had an unsteady moment last night eating Turkish with wools and nearly kept it, but it's got to go, there are other bikes to be built and ridden. I've had about a tenth of the fun with this that I'd been looking forward to.. hoping the next guy has the other 90 per cent, it's all there to be had. The bike sort of snarls even when it's stood against a wall and on the road it rides like a rottie cross straining at the leash. I've loved every minute of it, from opening the bike box with the frame in it to talking the buyer through it today.

This is probably my favourite photo of it. I took it in Berlin near Checkpoint Charlie last autumn, just as the daylight was starting to fade and the paintwork was starting to glow. I can't tell you how many smiles this motherfucker has given me the last year. Lo pros are awesome and I'm going to miss this bike.

    thems fighting words.
Show down at dawn, loudest hub wins.

  • Loud hubs are the BEST.

  • Been out for a nice ride today. feels good to get back on a bike after a break, even if it wasn't very many miles. Need to get my hands on a 80-90mm, black quill stem to finish this setup off now.
Pair of Cinelli tempos on the way too, for some more serious riding/possibly time trialling.

  • I recently switched back from my Tempo to riser again.
Couldn't get used to them; might give some Syntace Stratos Zero a try once.
    Also destickered the Corima.

    To do:

    • find a decent 24h rearhub, so that I can get the wheels to match
    • might switch to my Roval upfront, since crosswinds are getting tougher
    • foot retention, since I switched to a fixed gear
  • i have a couple of ZIPP 870 26" front wheels i found in my loft if anyone wants to make me an offer! Conti olympics stuck on too....

Wish i hadnt sold my white Brian Rourke lo pro now after seeing all these

    JT

  • are they the 650 front discs?

  • are they the 650 front discs?

    Yep, Zipp 870's circa 1995. 650c or 26"

if you want pics let me have your email and il take some in the morning

  • Depends how much you want for them. Let us know. Can't PM you for some reason (n00b?)

I'd prefer 400 or 440 if I had to have Zipp on the front, but who knows.

  • zipp 400 front would match your 440 rear.

  • yep, it says i cant pm until 2moro!!!

stumbled accross this forum, wish id found it ages ago!

let me know what they r worth to you really, im just looking to give them a new home after being redundant in the loft for 12 or more years

  • They'd be perfect for the Bow Flyover!

  • i should have finished it a long time ago. =(

I wish i own this EM.. nice mate.

  • I wish i own this EM.. nice mate.

me either.. =( tak ada pesek lah kawan!!!

  • yea...its true they would be a bit whippy on a flyover :)

  • negating the rules of porn - earliest lo-pros setup with drop bars. from the originators of "cool" - the soviet cycling team

  • But they are not Lo pro - the handlebar is in a normal position, and the small front wheel is there to allow closer following in a team time trial. To call these low profiles is to call Stayer bikes low profile, because they also have a small front wheel for exactly the same reason.

  • 4 minutes - that is about 2.5 times faster than nuknow responding to a new post in MASH thread
    bravo!

    =))

  • however, i think something else is interesting in the pic. it is dated back to 1980 Moscow Olympics, although opinion has it that 650 front wheel started around 1984 with Mosers hour record
    any thoughts on that MT?
