  • joe, go to borders and get hold of a guide book called not for tourists, website below, it is filled with good things. retails for about a tenner I think. Lists restaurants, bars, shops, etc.. whilst your there, you may want to buy a laminated map of brooklyn if you decide to go over to that lovely borough, nice bars and restaurants up on Smith St.

    If your going to ride over the bridges, which you will do, brooklyn is the prettiest but has the most foot traffic, manhattan was my preffered option, the cycle path is on the left side of the bridge when your heading to brooklyn from manhattan, and the williamsburg bridge is a bit of a stomper..

    go sit on the steps outside of the met, walk along the high line, which starts at the end of gansevoort in the meat packing district, roll through central park, and spend some time down in alphabet city, lots of good bars and eateries down there...
