ah i was only messing. i'm not a rhcp fan to be honest. i can see why folks rate him though.
personally i tend to like really almost moronically simple bass lines, but the ones with something warped about them that makes them burrow their way into the subconscious. all my favourite basslines to play are super simple.

thi is a bit diferent but i'm a slightly obsessed with carlos dengler from interpol at the moment. this is a perfect example of the blend of moronic simplicity, loose sloppy groove and something just fucking weird that gets itself lodged in my brain for months. how out of tune is that first note? it's such a cool effect. it must be deliberate because it's different every time and when he finally lands it, it's bang on in tune, he's just deliberately pulling notes 1 and 3 out of tune. i reckon he's detuned, and fretting below the note he wants and bending it up something vaguely in the vicinity of the note he's after. such great swager and attitude about it too. love it.
