They look alright to me John, but as with most branded gloves, they will probably just have single stitched panels and clever features that lead to the glove falling apart in no time.
Why don't you ask the guy to do some R&D with you... ruin gloves over time until you find one that truly stands up to abuse, etc.
It looks like a similar glove to the Dakine Defenders that I'm currently using... they were my glove of choice when MTBing back in the day but they've started to wear a little already (it's been two weeks).
