  • I might be up for this but on current form I'll be in a slower splinter group. A 17mph (avg) is great to aim for, but with stops and possible mechanicals, plus hills it will only be comfortable slower than that. I wouldn't need a Garmin if I could see the route but would be able to navigate without one, whether UK or France.

    Bike carriage on the Eurostar is still a bit iffy--four per train and costs 20 quid extra. I also think the Paris trains are booked up quite a long time in advance? (I take the Eurostar to Brussels quite often and those trains are always quite empty, whereas the Paris ones are generally packed.) I suspect getting back might be the biggest obstacle for me, but riding back could be an option after a day in Paris. It would take a lot longer, though.
