dirkbang sorry for your losses, I live near Dalston so will try to keep an eye out. Too late for you but to be honest I live in a flat within a house with a big shared hallway and I'd rather leave my bike locked in the street than leave it in the hallway for more than a minute.
As phi_pp says, if that's your only option try to find something to lock to, but shared hallways aren't safe places.
