as spent £120 on it getting it cleaned up and sprayed only to rust in the garden.

wrong drop out etc..
What's wrong about them - vertical? What's the "etc" bit?

Do you have another bike? If so you're probably not going to win. If not then ask her whether she can help you finish it and accept it that your Xmas and Birthday pressies are written off. Alternatively offer to do a loada work about the house. Or go down the route of yelling her that cycling is probably the biggest olympic sport we're going to have in 2012 and you've been inspired to take it up properly, join a club and go on longer rides.
That way she might even get some decent components. Maybe draw up a plan of how much you need with a couple of options for cheaper stuff alongside.
Surely you should keep it!

I'm still fairly new to bike so i don't make much sense.
I wanted to convert it to single speed, well i have because it was technically already converted when i got it. but i need new wheels and brakes before i can use.(its got short drop outs). the kind for gears :/

I had a mountain bike and got hit a month ago, but was kind of blessing in disguise because the guy who hit me got me a new bike. so now have two bikes. and new one has to stay inside.

How about putting a wanted ad up for the parts you need (mentionng the lack of cash) and maybe offer a trade of what you have spare (wrong parts etc) for bits you need. Looking at that second picture you just need a saddle, post and a chain! Maybe a tensioner from reading your last post.

Short drop-outs are fine for single speed. You would only need a rear wheel, and you could get it done for not too much

If you must get rid of it there's no harm in trying to get some cash back for what you spent, look at the listings pages for what info you need to include and then try your luck. You've got nothing to lose by trying and if you over price it i'm sure there will be someone pointing it out soon enough!

about slaytanic's bike (by order of subjective importance)
no handlebar plug, no bar tape, aerospoke, white tyre, purple stem w/ pink paint accents, bizarre saddle angle, breakless + single strap clips, wrong side photothese are easy to sort out, hope I'm being positive here.
no handlebar plug, - Fair enough.
no bar tape, - Almost fair enough.
aerospoke, - It isn't you riding on an overpriced piece of plastic.
white tyre, - Whatever.
purple stem w/ pink paint accents, - Who cares?!
bizarre saddle angle, - Personal preference.
breakless + single strap clips, - What's wrong?
wrong side photo - ..."these are easy to sort out, hope I'm being positive here." - Shhh

nice bike felix!
fuck yeah :) -

Congrats mate, why do you need a new rear wheel? I'm sure you can just get a screw on freewheel or a set of spacers and a cassette sprocket.Only thing you'dneed then is a chain tensioner and you'd be sorted.

I think Slaytanics bike looks pretty deep, and you can see why it's taken him a while to complete. But is there a danger in having such a tight clearance on the front?

It really isn't that tight at all. Are we talking about the same bike?

Not sure about the hanging mechanism....but its for when the Roberts isnt in use (saves space and means I dont have to buy a poster for that wall)
How about this as a hanging mechanism? While you're at it, you can pop yourself in there. Maybe we could freecycle your body parts.
