Don't normally, would normally go up New North Road/Southgate Road, I meant more the wider area generally which sometimes means coming from the bottom of Kingsland Road.
I have a love hate relationship with Kingsland Road, you can build up some speed on it though.
Why would you go to PUSH from Old Street via the Kingsland Road?

(sic) Newington Green is:
...***10 minutes from Old Street if you put the power down on Kingsland Road ***=)
At first, I scratched my head, thinking...."***eh...what does he mean?" ***
Then I gave up, thinking this must be done simply to out-think any reader. It has to be quoted, simply for future generations. They will have forgotten Shakespeare by then.

skydancer, you're relatively new here, so you won't be aware that this is playful joshing. Fox owns a bike that was sold on this forum through me. We have conversed via PMs, and are good with each other.
Now.....you were saying.......

Was also joshing , in fact met fox at newington green and frequently converse with him about north londoin geography;-) -

Lessons to learn when living close to/in Hackney: Learn to differentiate between the different parts of the modern Ermine Street, also known as the A10. :)
Don't speed on it. It's far too nice a road. You want to enjoy it. It's an ancient treasure.

As an update to post 236
Yesterday I popped into PUSH CYCLES in Newington Green. I was a walkenger, as I was meeting a friend for a coffee, after some some unfruitful business discussions.
PUSH is a lovely shop, staffed by people I know on this forum, and one of them I've known personally since I've first joined, and went to a West's Drinks. They've got an excellent range of stock. They are dealers for Specialized, and therefore have the Langsters, and Steel Langsters too, as well as geared bikes for every roadie....and I'm sure could order stuff in if one wished.
They sell a wide array accessories and high quality components. Lovely Brooks saddles rub shoulders with Paul equipment. I'd suggest popping in and having a look.
Uniquely, this boutique sized upstairs-downstairs shop, will be an/the official Mercian shop in London. The more I think about it, the more of a magnificent coup I realise this is! Well done guys. So for anyone seeking an exquistely made steel bike, that has a (possibly) higher reputation/regard even than Bob Jacksons, then this is one place to definitely come to. This is one of those makes that one would wish to keep and pass on down through the generations.
Apart from that, its in a good spot, just on the corner of the green, surrounded by coffee shops and a few bars. Those who live in North London should consider themselves lucky. Those wishing to have a look, will find that its less than 15 minutes up from Old Street roundabout.
And, as one can see from the photos, PUSH sell BELK Bags. These come very recommended. Good stuff.
PUSH Cycles are now selling Mercian frames, and bikes, that they can build for you if you wish. Its the only place in London to buy a new Mercian frame.
I suggest you pop along for a look-see. It really is worth. Some lovely forumengers work there also, so its win-win-win. -

Props again for Vaidas in Honor Oak. I messed up my front derailleur trying to learn how to adjust it. Popped the bike into the shop, went for a coffee next door, and minutes later it was ready with both front and rear tuned to perfection. £5. It's just not worth doing it yourself with expertise and value like that down the road.

Sure did
That was my job you were being interviewed for, we said hello briefly, did wonder if you were a forum-er as the manager mentioned you were into 'fixies' Glad to see you got the job at velorution.

I just bought a kids mtb from Simpson Cycles, Kentish Town ( www.simpsoncycles.co.uk) for 12% cheaper than anywhere else I could find with free delivery from London to Manchester (applies to all of uk and it arrived the next day despite me not paying for the next day service). Great service.

Bought from them online and at the store, nice people and got a good selection of stuff (super long drop brakes etc) at very reasonable prices.

Please add:
My friend and fellow cycle instructor, Halim, has just opened a shop called Future Cycle Training & Repairs in N8.
Halim is an excellent fellow and his prices are reasonable. The shop stocks Fuji bikes, amongst others. He is a former road racing cyclist and leads a regular Sunday ride.

Rip Mend A Bike in Fulham. Just before Christmas, Peter told his neighbours he was closing, and closed he has. They weren't flash, but they were good and honest in my experience. I hope he's ok.

The mahoosive new Evans is open in Guildford. Premium priced as ever, but useful for researching stuff before getting it for 1/2 the money on CRC.

Future Cycle - just seen this, didn't know anything about it, thanks for the tip - another bike shop in North London is good news as I think my LBS - Archway Cycles must have shut down - anyone know what happened to it/ or Bernie? Great mechanic & extremely knowledgable - shame about that
