  • Three teams and traitor Boagey down for BFF... Cambridge represent!

    ^^^^?

Ok so our team list so far:

    1. Barnwell Bandits: Luca, Greg, Matt
    2. The Chancers: Old man Bill, Bogey, Chan
    3. Urine Goal: Josh/Gabe/RV
20.???????????????????: Baker, Chippers, Ali (i hope)

There are twenty teams, four of them are entirely or have members from Cambridge. I think that's good. Yes.

  • so meet at that budgens at 12 or somewhere more central?

  • so meet at that budgens at 12 or somewhere more central?

I will be coming from Mill Road way, so I'll be going past the Co–Op on Milton Road (near the turning for Arbury Road. Then there's some weird New Town shops by The Grove pub which is where the Budgens is. Those are the two main shops on the way. I'll be going past both so whatever is easiest for you Luca.

  • I may have some off cut ply in my garden for back boards an bungie straps,i'll have a look see what i can do and if i can fit the bmx in too i will mr Baker, see you all tomorrow

  • How exciting !

  • Great day today...

  • looks great!

you should just play there from now on... its close to my house
would be a bit of an irony with rick though, he moves house very close to barnwell and you move courts very close to where he moved from. (not that it matters, but just ironic)

  • According to the Orchard Park website, the court has been open since May! I think it makes a great evening court if the lights remain free. I still think that Sundays in Barnwell would be good. There is also another court across Kings Hedges road so it's great to have options now.

  • I reckon i've got the ball in that pic

    ENHANCE!

    I can't see but I think you're right.

  • There's a chance I can't make the BFF on Sunday..... anyone potentially want my spot with Power and Luca?

  • Oh Greg. How much of a chance? Is that a polite way of saying I definitely can't come on Sunday?

  • So tonight... Barnwell or Arbury?

  • the lights are booked up for barnwell tonight!

  • Barnwell on tuesdays , Arbury any other day for free

I've been offered some driving work for Fri/Sat/Sun- it's not confirmed yet, and I haven't said that I'm definitely available but seeing that I'm broke £300 matters more to me than a polo tournament......

  • Barnwell on tuesdays , Arbury any other day for free

Doesn't that seem a bit backwards? Barnwell costs money and Arbury is free. We could play in Barnwell on Sundays when we have the court all day and don't need to worry about the lights? If we have the lights booked tonight then we might as well use them obvs, but in future it makes sense surely. I know it's only £3 each but free is free...

No worries bud, let us know nearer the time. Even if we don't find anyone in Cambridge I'm sure we'll find someone in London.

  • i think it would be a mistake to stop paying for lights at barnwell, it was an unwritten agreement made eons ago between us and the court lady that we'd contribute in some way as we have such a high use of the court compared to others who use it. if we renege on that agreement then we might lose the home court advantage, and our 'free' sundays. all for the sake of three quid a week.

and lets be honest, barnwell tuesdays are fucking great

  • and lets be honest, barnwell tuesdays are fucking great

    That is true.

  • Tonight mu'fuckers gon get slayed! Pow! Right in the kitchen.

  • Those playing BFF please take note:

Mallet heads in the “European cheater” style are banned from this tournament.
This is quoted from the rules published here

It also seems they have not gone back on their rules of scoring:

To score you may put the ball in the goal anyway you like. eg. Shuffle/Shaft/Shot/Scoop/Ball Joint/wheel/header. Anything that crosses the line is a goal (with the exception of the use of hands and feet). This includes a ball stuck in one’s spokes (riding into goal).

  • Polo or not polo tonight?

Also, I have been thinking about this second bike polo day. It seems like it is harder and harder to have another day else than Tuesday for bike polo (work issues, family issues, tournaments, etc). then I understand it does not really make sense to add a third day, except if we can find more players... Here is the link with the press coverage Luca talked about on last week, if we have an article we might find new players, then it would be worth having 3 polo training sessions a week, keeping Tuesday as the core day... I'll not engage in anything with the press, it was just an idea I wanted to share with you guys.

Good luck to those playing on Sunday at the BFF!

  • I am definitely not playing tonight, my bike is in BA and I have so much god damn work to do.

  • who's getting the train to london on sunday, and if so what time are people meeting at station?

    thanks.
