  • Is there an easy way to update your google talk status when using a droid?

I can update my buzz with the offical google buzz app but there doesnt seem to be one for Google talk
and my google talk status will automaticly update my buzz - but not the other way around. :(

Open Talk, so the list of contacts is showing. Click your name at the top. You can then choose your Status in the dropdown and set your comment text below it.

  • i have the same sync problem with contacts! FB and sim and phone etc. if i select only phone i still see FB etc! sigh

  • HTC Desire HD now on T-Mobile UK website, available to order.

Oh yes, and T-Mobile customers now get to use Orange network transmitters as well as T-Mobile's. Reception should be increased quite a bit,
while coverage should be marginally improved. Its win-win.

    How do I open Talk?

The only way I can get to it is opening a browser and going to Selecting the talk tab
    m.google.com

Even then you can't enter a status
Does it actualy work for you?

Select enter a custom message and it doesnt enter anything
Select one of your saved mesages it doesnt change.
Even if it did work it would be a fiddling job.

    Fail google - fail hippy

  • ^ You should have a Talk app?

  • Advent Vega gets final spec sheet. Looks pretty fantastic.

Cannot wait to get my hands on one of these. I'm off to tmobile on monday to try one out.

    I should? where?

  • on your phone? if not, from the market...

  • on your phone? if not, from the market...

don't have one preinstalled on the phone.. its a custom orange build of android so they might have removed it.

Can't find anything on the marketplace or online.

  • I hate manufacturs playing around with the original software.
It's like buying a new computer, filled with a load of useless Dell/HP etc shit.

    Building your own computer FTW.

How does this apply to Android phones? Are you suggesting its better to build our own?
Thats way above my expertise level.

    Are you joking?
Wait what phone do you have? Isn't Talk in your app list? It's standard, no?

Ah well, why didn't you say you had a friggin' crippled phone. Fail tommy, thankyou very much.

No, he's suggesting that carriers don't add or remove apps from the phones.

  • But surely, that only happens in Heaven? No?

  • Unlocked, SIM-free. Only way I roll.

  • Surely the answer there is to level up? :)

  • Great thanks guys

Not using an HTC desire but I'll assume orange have done the same on all their phones.
never installed an .apk file before but I guess i better learn

  • what phone are you using tommy, by the way?

  • Orange San Fransisco

Apart from the lack of Talk - its awesome.

  • Fantastic review of the Orange San Francisco. And yes, its noted that the TALK (Google) is missing. It seems that there's a 48hr Orange verification thing going on, that somehow is Orange's work around of the standard procedures. It seems, with this phone, Orange wanted maximum ownership of the phone's functions and abilities....paid for, and not free.

    There are solutions.

  • Good news! Just complain. They added the TALK back to the Desire phones. Its legal discrimination if they don't do it for you.

    Huh? What does that mean?

  • People complained about TALK being missing from their HTC Desire phones, and Orange put it back in.

As for the legal (tenet/term) discrimination.....it could easily be argued that Orange have favoured one set of customers, and not another, based on the phone/contract that they have. Since they're both Android phones, a case for discrimination could be made.

Can I hire you on a 'No win no Fee basis' to start proceedings?
