I think Wools was interested, will PM.
Anyone interested in getting a return ferry on the Sunday, will mean cycling from Paris to Dieppe? We could then either cycle back to London, or take the train and have some beers.
-
• #6
cost it up, might be able to.

Might be up for this. If so, I would go for the £35 return ferry / extra miles / die in a ditch option.

We're looking at about £30-£40 for the ferry, then food and accomodation costs on top. When we went earlier in the summer we stayed at a Formula 1 which was about £30 for the night. But that was short notice so might be able to find somewhere a little cheaper. -

not doing anything that weekend, will clear it with 'her indoors' as we're getting a kitten this weekend so someone needs to look after it, unless there's a catsitter thread :)

Right. That evening, I would STRONGLY insist riding past Lewes, as its Bonfire Night (Google about Lewes on bonfire Nighht, biggest celebrations in Europe....)
-
• #11
^shit, is this true? i'd hoped to finally get to lewes for bonfire night this year. it behoves us to mark the horned one, the god of the hunt's departure from this world to the netherworld for the winter. i was going to wear fur leggings, a strap-on, horns and no shirt and run around lewes on acid chasing virgins and drinking from a wineskin. perhaps i still can if there's time.
-

sonds intriguing!! maybe we'll have to see if we can add that in on the way there.
im definitely up for passing by lewes on the way to watch a few fireworks

Sounds like a good trip, Could a newbee join up? Only found this site a week ago.

I would suggest heading to Brighton, then East along the coast road to Newhaven. However, If you want to go via Lewes, i'd head to ditchling village, then east(before the beacon) towards Lewes via Plumpton, and then maybe jump on the train out of Lewes, down to Newhaven?

think kristian has the route more or less planned - will nudge him about this.

North Beers on Tues?

I'd also probably ask people to be responsible when proclaiming their own ability to ride distance. Merely as a ride of this type in distant lands can be a bit risky.
I'm not saying this to be a c*nt, 100+miles will be the longest I've done non-stop (previous circa 80) so fess up lol
-
• #22
Mattha and I have done a number of 100+ mile rides together.
-
• #23
...james. I know you have. 'twasn't some open ended request for HTFU comments.
-
• #24
i piss on 100+ mile rides. i did 130 in july then went to an all night warehouse party and did a bunch of substances, danced until 7am and went home with a lady. true story.
i can do these things because my dna code reads h.t.f.u and i'm awesome. -

Wow, that's pretty cool..
Personally, the longest distance i've personally done is when i rode from Shoreditch to Kew for the bridges ride. Did the bridges (>30miles) and then rode to brick lane for some bagels before riding home.
This one sounds a bit longer though.

Friday 5th November
-cycle to Newhaven to arrive for 9:30pm
-ferry at 10:30pm
-few beers then try to get some sleep
Saturday 6th November
I'm taking the eurostar home asap, sophie will stay in paris until sunday and kristian, having unfeasable amounts of htfu, may attempt to ride back to dieppe and get a ferry back to newhaven.
anyone else coming?
