Man up, Catfood. You know whe it doesn't look right, then it isn't right most of the times.
EEI: i get yer point hoss - it's just i tend to err on the side of giving folks the benefit of the doubt, as wilfully naive as it may be. heck, theres a suit wearing project manager type in my office who rides a kitted out vigorelli to school everyday, and he certainly doesn't look 'right' either - but no one would presume that he nicked his bike. cynical presumptions are a unfortunate but neccessary part of modern life i spose. -

about a year ago , seen a kid from my local area riding a cervelo time trial bike . he was in grey hooded sweatshirt , grey pants and white reeboks , moppy hair (seems to be the fashion in n1) looked like it was too big for him ! not sure he was the time trialling type ?
as for japanese i seen women leave their purses / handbags on tables in cafes and go to the ladies in shinjuku , tokyo ........am shocked by this but nice to know people have trust in society ..the problem is they come here and are robbed within 5 mins :(

I used to leave my iphone to secure my table or seat at the bar in Tokyo. It's a lovely place for that kind of behaviour. One time I left my custom-built fixie locked up outside my office in the centre of town while I went to work, and then when I came to ride home much much later found that it had fallen over because I'd actually not locked it to anything just put the (cheap-ass) cable lock around the fence and not through the frame.

I am new here (only a week or so) so I have been looking through some of your older threads.. this one is amazing. I had no idea so many bikes are getting nicked then stuck on Gumtree.. I also steer clear of ebay “used components” – but selling on full bikes. Friend of mine had his stolen from his garage last month I assumed it was kids (specialized full sus) Now I’m looking out for it every time a bike goes past me

just reading through some of these posts - a fair number of us seem to think that certain people are conspicuous simply because 'they don't look right' - anyone else troubled by this sort of language? call me on it if you think i'm being oversensitive here - just smacks a bit of daily mail-ish curtain twitchiness that i reckon none of us necessarily endorses.
//:-=)
Generally, I find that if it is yellow, has a bill and goes "quack", then it probably is a duck.....
Just saying, like

Seeing how hard it is for the Boris Bikes in NIMBY London to get space for the docks, I don't see protected and paid bike parking happening in the near future.
Isn't there a protected paid locking bike area at Finsbury Park interchange? Sure I have seen it - about £1 a day.

Hi,
I had a Black Specialised Tricross stolen from Hackney Road last Monday - it's the 2010 model.
Reported it to police and they wont take any investigation further. I'm sure I've seen it on Gumtree but the advertiser won't answer calls and texts. Dont think i'll try my luck at Brick Lane as I think I'd get into a bit of trouble if I did see someone trying to sell it. These cheeky fuckers make my blood boil....if anyone has any ideas please post. Thanks
Yes, that ebay tricross could very well be this.

Forgive my laziness in not wanting to go through this entire thread and read every post, but I was walking past a possible stolen bike earlier and thought it would be worth sharing – walking up Bayham street (Camden NW1) and saw two suspicious looking blokes with a bike on the corner of the estate on Pratt Street. The bike looked like it might be a charge plug - navy blue or similar frame, white forks, white gumwall front tyre and green rear rim was all I could glean from it without staring. The only other thing I noticed was there was one reflector still on the spokes on the rear wheel.
