A slightly maddening and definitely zealous attempt to sell of what is in reality a piece of tat as a piece of history at £500 collect NW London.

it just seems alot for a battered bike like that, maybe its a historic artefact. mig please tell us more!
-
• #6
you are selling something worth £500, and couldn't even be bothered to clean the dust off the bike before the photoshoot?
-
• #7
size?
I like it, but £500 is too much for a bike that still needs some work -
• #8
23" Seat tube 22" top tube, complete lack of time means I haven't been able to do much to it.
Open to offers and I realise this isn't the right place to sell it,but it is almost 90 years old,not much work to make a really nice bike. -

^ possibly jonnyrau?
-
• #11
is it campag super record ?
-

Look I think I have made myself unpopular with the Sunbeam,
I have no idea of it's value and something similar went for a lot more on e-bay-apparently a working two speed bottom bracket gear is rare.
I would have put offers but it is not allowed,
So less than £500 but more than £100? -
• #13
looks similar and in better nick.
-
• #14
^ possibly jonnyrau?
^ achieve the impossible, grasshoppa
-
• #15
Looks similar, but isn't it is a badge engineered BSA,
Ignore the asking price and make an offer, -
• #16
Difference between the one on the bay and the one mig has is the gears.
Bay: Common SA 3 speed hub
Mig: BB gears :)I did overheard some very enthusiatic chatter about this BB gear thingy a few weeks back and from what I heard, it's quite rare to find (bcos of age?), might be wrong as it is just hearsay and I am not bothered googling :)

I'll take your wheels if they are 650 b's and your brooks if you split.
Anyone know if you can get a more modern rim you can use in conjunction with those rod brakes, I have them on an early triumph I'm trying to breath life into. -
• #20
It would be totally pointless to split the bike, and the OP shouldn't do so, even if it makes him a fortune. This is a rare bike. The BB gears especially so. OP, I appeal to you; Don't split this bike. Please sell it to somebody who isn't going to powdercoat it.
I'm sure you know this already... but I just feel I have to say!

£99 if you throw in the brazing.
-
• #22
its only really worth it to a collector, not someone trying to be cool. 20 quid
-
• #23
Just go to the Hard To Find cycle jumble with it. Leave it against the wall with the chainring side facing outwards and I am pretty sure there will be someone who will enquire whose bike is it :) I have 2 old Raleighs at home. One with drum brakes, another with rod brakes. Not too sure what year they are but they came with Dunlop/Brooks super spring sprung saddles. It might not be worth much, but to me they are gold :)

my mate got me into fixed gear and i am thinking of making a fixie conversion
is this bicycle suitable for fixed gear components?
-

^ this bike would be perfect! I recommend twin arrospoks. Its the only way to roll around with style, sophistication and grace
A real top racing machine in it's day!
The Oilbath replaces the RH chain stay on these to save weight.
Amazing original condition. The brooks saddle is a little tired, but after 90years I would be .
Has a 2 speed bottom bracket gear, but the cable giude needs re-brazeing-it is an easy job,I just have no time.
Amazingly engineered rod brakes and q/r saddle bag support,
Everything is just so well engineered
A bargain at £500 collect NW London.
