Awesome team, was gonna suggest this

  • start earlier than 9.30

  • maks

    Pff. Newbie.

  • start earlier than 9.30

Unless we crash in London, Cambridge folks are gonna struggle to get down before then. The trains are bullshit.

  • if we do a round robin, then maybe we can try to organise your games to happen toward the end of the groups... whatdyathink max?

  • in fact if were doing round robin it would be good to schedule games, like in GVA where we play them in blocks.

  • +1 at B. BFF is always awesome fun, it would be a shame to run out of day light...as good as the euro's were, playing at dusk isn't safe or condusive for good polo.

and John, i don't know the full story but if there's no lights you should be asking for a reduced rate. What ever you do don't pay the same price as the Open (obviously you wouldn't be as there's was probably a weekend rate)...

Not only is that reasonable considering you are not getting full use of facilities but it will also put them in a position of loosing money due to no working lights...

also have you talked to that MP that Kev was talking to?

  • You aren't really suggesting 25 team round robin are you? that's 300 games!

I assume you either mean round robin in groups, or swiss rounds?

  • yeah, course 300 games, that's why we're sugesting starting earlier, init.

  • sarcasum.

  • What about hiring some 1000W tripod floodlights (~£10 each for a day) and a gennie or two (2KW is normally £25 and would run for over 3 hours, you can even get silenced Diesel engines)?

4000W per court would be enough in my opinion, 6000W would be perfect. Although heading to the party at dusk also sounds just as good... basically £100 per court to be lit for just over 3 hours, plus fuel costs (often these are included in hire price).

  • Good idea Jono.

Ha. Dont worry. I dont think we were paying full price anyway. We're definitely not now :)

The thing is, theyre not losing enough money for a council to care about. Its a couple of hundred quid at most. Southwark events team are really supportive of the BFF, and polo in general, but the public safety people are much more concerned about the danger of having people breaking into their electricity supply boxes to mess with the timers..

  • Yep, there's no way someone's going to risk their job saying "ok, don't worry about the potential deaths, just get the lights working".

no john, 4 or 5 games, per team RR and from those reults seed a double or single elim final.

hmm, the noise would be terrible from the jennies no? don't think the neigbours would like it

  • Silenced diesel gennies are just that... silent.
