  • Its the lack of platform that causes them to be a bit unsuitible to fixed riding . Both me and Tilover use quattros fixed without complaint. But you can clip out of standard eggbeaters too easily (had them on a commuter bike for some years). I dont skid, but I do ride down steep mountian roads at mega RPMs. I would'nt want to do that with eggbeaters.

    i've been riding eggbeater SL fixed for 3 years, down plenty of steep hills - the lack of platform is no issue at all, if your shoes have decent soles.
    i've also only ever unclipped accidentally once in all that time. i think they get a bad rep, i really do. i think for some peoples taste they FEEL loose, like you're going to unclip, but in fact, you don't ( assuming you have them set to the wider unclip angle). just takes a bit of getting used to, perhaps.
