like last night!

I'm brainstorming a membership drive at the moment, maybe an event at LMNH where we spend everyone's membership money on the bar tab and provide free beers? If people have any better ideas then please pass them on.
No worries if you don't want to be a member Andy, the LHBPA will still try to represent you and develop bike polo to benefit London bike polo as a whole, but it would be useful to have as many members as possible moving forwards (association stats) and the more input/active members the better!
(The LHBPA is made up of your mates, trying to get shit done. Membership supports your mates and allows us to put an official face on our activity to the outside world... At best you'll get a polo court out of it and some more tourneys, at worst you'll get free beer.)
Thanks Jono, the best explanation I've had as to reasons to join.
Next time I see you, badger me for the cash. -

I continue to be utterly baffled that the LHBPA does not have a minimum of 60 members.
Amen to that norris!

Thanks Jono, the best explanation I've had as to reasons to join.
Next time I see you, badger me for the cash.Whatever, Andy. I've said what Jono said so many times it makes my head spin. I posted a new thread stating that exact case, and have bumped it many times.
In fact, I basically stated the same case on this page of this thread just a few posts before Jono did. I offered to pay for your membership and your response was "What do I get out of the deal?" Perhaps you were trying to take the piss, but I find your apathy/borderline hostility toward the efforts of your "mates" to "get shit done" -- a comment that I have made myself on multiple occasions -- offensive, not funny.

Sorry Matt, it was meant in jest, nothing more, and thanks for the offer.
I've never seen the point of joining before and therefore never bothered to pay, which I know is remiss of me.
Jono's explanation came over a little better than some previous posts which seemed to have a strongarm approach.I'll definitely pay the fiver next time I see someone, although I'm not keen on Jono's suggestion that it'll all go into a piss up. Do we not have enough piss ups anyway?

no piss up no polo.

Fair enough, Andy. I plead guilty to the strongarm approach. The reasons to join have always seemed so obvious to me that I tend to get frustrated and undiplomatic. The only reason that I have been pushing you, in particular, is because I know you are committed to London bike polo and are a core community member who has contributed a lot (hence my offer to pay for you).
Better for the Association now that Jono is the main voice. Maybe I should do the Association a favor and just shut up.

I agree with Andy that spending the membership money to buy the members beer is probably not the best idea.

Should be able to make my first reappearance tonight. I will be malletless so if anyone can bring an extra that'd be great (im in the market for a ski pole as well if anyone has one they can sell on). I'm at 0759 325 5362. see you soon!
oh, could also use a wheel cover or two as well if anyone has a stack of corrugated plastic lying around....
