Yes, yes and yes. They aren't always in synch, e.g. DuraAce is now 7900, but generally major revisions are +100 while minor upgrades to just some components are +1 (with +3 reserved for triple equipment in recent groupsets), and significant options in the same update cycle such as compacts get the +50 treatment, although they also did that with the mid-cycle major revision to DuraAce hubs and wheels. Not sure how they're going to deal with the next generation DuraAce now that they've got to 7900, as that should be next in line for a major version increment.
