  • I have a device that I am trying to see if I can gain info from. It appears to have a Ethernet port to connect to. The manual says Ebus which I understand is short for Ethernet bus, the same thing correct? So I can just use a cross over cable. The company sell software to connect but all I want to do is pull some data from the device and log it.

How can I see what information this port will spout?
I was thinking do a port scan to ascertain which ports are open? but I don't even know the i.p address (nmap would that do it)?
Once I've done that what would be the next best step?
I've found no indication in the manual about and index.html file or if I can do some sort of telnet and browse the computer. I know nothing much about telnet and if this is a reasonable suggestion. Is it?

Any suggestions of where to start trying to access this device? Good guides?
