I just got a lot of "I'm sorry sir but we are only allowed to ask you to send your handset in", my requests to speak to anyone senior were denied, then they hung up on me.

I was extremely polite throughout I might add- not so much as a hint of a raised voice, so hanging up on me (might have been a network issue- hah!) pissed me right off.

I'd dearly love to be rid of Vodafone- is there any way I could parlay this into dissolving the contract?

I'd happily buy my own handset and go to a pay monthly SIM.

Again, consumer rights, no? Handset not fit for purpose. Return for refund (they probably have a get out clause in the contract so you can't do this though.. cunts).

Unlocked, SIM-free is the only way to fly.
