So if I lock my bike somewhere and leave it for a few days I've abandoned it?!
If we're talking weeks or months that's one thing.
Victoria Embankment, just under waterloo bridge. Motobecane conversion been locked up there since pre-xmas, I think originally the front wheel was nicked but now it's missing a saddle too, not much else though. Walked past it this morning and it's now got a "Council Aware" sticker on it, detailing that it'll be gone in 48 hours (maybe less, I didn't go past it yesterday). So I'm guessing that pretty much means it's free to anyone who'll liberate it*
*may or may not be worth liberating.

As Prodhomme said 'property is theft'......so go take it....or liberate it

anyone seen the red white chrome bottecchia in Shoreditch, front wheel and bars gone, lovely bike with Shimano 600 group. I might talk to Police about rescuing it.

yes, been discussed quite a lot elsewhere, I forget where exactly; not sure it's a Bottechia though is it?
As Prudhomme said, All property is theft unless we're talking about my Colnago. -

'Spotted ...' thread. I have a faint suspicion I might know the owner.

^well she had better move quick Oliver because it'll be gone in a couple of days.

Viewed it on Sunday, some disrespectful types had graffitied the saddle.

I daresay he won't if it's him (which is actually a long shot).

Once the parts start to go the frame will soon follow; I waited too long on a Langster once outside my old work place. Had just decided it was ok to take what was left of it when someone beat me to it.

I have informed Shoreditch Police, couldn't stand the thought of further dismemberment. This is not an Apolo mtb.

Quick paste from Classifieds.. Possible 531 beater bike spotted in Shepherds Bush
Apparently abandoned, attached to bike stands outside Tesco on Uxbridge Rd opposite 3rd Ave. Contractors are relocating those bike stands to make room for an ATM today/tomorrow so now's your chance. It's been out some time so various rust patches but didn't seem terminal to my eye. Purple paintjob, munted canti brakes, badly wrapped drop bars and a fat seat.
East corner of Cowley Rd and The Vale

This morning i found a peugeot P10L (1983 budget 103 Carbolite tubing) abandoned on NCN route 6 near Bury.
Strapped it to my rucksak with inner tubes so i could carry it by Brompton and it's now here in my office with me and stripped down for the tram ride back to Manc.
Gonna make a nice beater restoration project for the winter :)
Rescue those abandoned bikes for sure folks, they'll love you for it!

Hey guys! reviving and old discussion here...I've got permission from the camden police to retrieve a frame that is currently rusting away in the streets... problem is... can't cut the kryptonite lock... don't really want to spend loads on a locksmiths and definitely won't buy an angle grinder... i tried to cut it with a hacksaw, bolt cutters and even tried to drill it with no success.
Do you think the council would help me do it? if so, would they charge me? what would be another cheap option that does not involve explosives, nuclear weapons or super powers?
Thanks!

I doubt the council will help you.
I think you would need power tools and it is going to look very suspicious indeed.
Is it really worth it?
How good is the frame? -
• #246
its a colnago?

Pol paz - on the other thread you dredged up to ask about this you said the police and council had said not to do it.
Why the fuck are you dredging up another thread to discuss the same thing but changing your story? If you got no response last time it's because no-one was interested in helping you steal this bike. Lying that you have permission from the police is not going to change this.

well in fact i went and spoke to them in person yesterday as i wasn't happy with their first reply on the phone, showed them pictures and they agreed the thing is abandoned. Got granted permission and got a reference number to do it, so not trying to steal it (at least not anymore since i can take it legally)
anyway, Don't get all worked out, come down a bit
