However, still provisionally in. How far is it?
Or are we going there and back to see how far it is?
It’s not all furry dice, white socks and white stilettos.

Just under 40 miles to Matching Green and back to E10 last time I think
It can be shorter
-
• #6
No that's fine, don't make it shorter, longer if anything!
-
• #7
^^ not tempted to make this a bit longer? Those flat Essex miles can go by very fast - might be nice to make more of a day of it - especially if you've got a lunch stop planned?

Balls, away that weekend, would've been in otherwise. Any chance of a route map? Been up in epping a few times but wouldn't mind to find more nice routes up there

Providing I can improve my fitness between now and 16th October, I am a possible for this.

Wondering whereabouts the start in Wathamstow will be as i'll probably have to ride in from Limehouse which i think is the closest station on the C2C Line.

Is anyone going to start a list?
I'm in as long as it's not pissing down (don't mind light rain)
Longer would be nice, but one of the pretexts of this ride is "Its especially suitable for some one wanting to start to do longer rides…" so this is probably ideal in those circumstances. This strikes me as a really good way of introducing longer rides to people who only do their usual commute.
" Nigel182, where will it start in Walthamstow? I'd like to ride their but I'll need to research a good route from N14

deffo up for this...I second all of conker's points, would be good to make it a bit of a newb's ride. I like the idea of cafe stops too, I do love a pastry...

I'm in too- please would somebody list me. I'm yet to work out the copy/paste function on the nokia. Thanks.
A sore ankle and the Cycle Show means I am running this ride a few weeks later than planned; see earlier threads.
**The Joy of Essex,
**
This is a trip to the Essex Country side and back, leaving Walthamstow @ 9.00 am and then heading out through Epping Forest. Once past Epping and N Weald we hit the empty lanes of the N Essex country side so you can discover the joys of cycling in Essex. It’s not all furry dice, white socks and white stilettos.
The route will be fixed /single speed friendly , done at a steady pace with no one getting dropped or lost,
Its especially suitable for some one wanting to start to do longer rides and who’d like to find out how to ride out from East London to the Essex Lanes. There will be a stop at the famous High Beach tea hut and lunch at Ashlyn’s farm on the return leg. The turn around point will probably be Matching Green. We should be back by 2 pm. The early start is necessary so we can clear the morning rush in Woodford.
Coffee and cakes may be available on departure.
