This is looking to be the cheapest, although I haven't seen 30 euro Karlsruhe/Amsterdam tickets (cheapest I've seen is 39 on bahn.de).
Ah, fair 'nuff - it was a couple of years ago when I went, so has probably gone up now.

agree
but it is cheap, and you could go to Paris...
just an ideaHmm, maybe I should ditch the others and keep hanging out in Europe for another week... Geneva or Paris? Hmmmmmmm!

@Horatio - there's a site for that:

The weather is fantastic, and it's going to be crap for the rest of the week.
What excuse should I use to depart work very early?

Karlsruhe to Amsterdam tickets are 89 euros for the day we'd need them. 39 euros to get there, 89 to leave. Jerks.
Back to trying to find a way through France.

ah, cool. trying that now (although it looks like it's searching for flights?)

It's supposed to cover everything, but it's still in early beta, so may be patchy

yeah, not really working the way I'd want. And only (as far as I can tell) lets you search for return trips.

Here's a question for those who are really bored.
Cheapest way to get from Konstanz or Karlsruhe Germany to London without flying (on Nov 1st).
I.e., train to Strasbourg, Strasbourg to Calais, Ferry, Train to London.
Bahn.de to special rail fares from london to germany, look on their website.
I'm going to germany from london for 49 Euro on that deal.

We did London to Berlin that way a couple of months ago. Nothing direct (to London) for cheap anymore. So we're going about it in a more... awkward way.

Any chance of you being around Karlsruhe in a car around... 10:00am on the 1st of November, Tommy?

This reminds me I need to book the tickets! I just went on the site had a look, they were 49 Euro, went ot pick return fare, was 280 Euro!
So I look at the return trip as a single and its 69 Euro!
WTF.
So I go to book separate single fares of 49 there and 69 back, but now the outward journey is 89 Euro

They have a UK phone number. You can try to book through them.

I am considering the purchase of a Volkswagen transporter in which to live. Am I an idiot?
I've considered this too, but not in a VW transporter as it's a bit small to have a shower and loo in. Problems I came up with in my thought experiment were in no particular order.
Security.
A Van seem worse on this front than a flat.Water supply and waste water disposal.
Camper van vary from a big container for water in the back to a built in tank to separate tanks which you plumb in every time you set up camp. The third option is no good in London and the built in tanks are quite often only on expensive vans and having large containers of water inside and tipping water out would not be a nice long term solution. Canal boats have large tanks so you can go quite a while between fill-ups but camper vans would require more frequent topping up.
Parking.
Most parking in Zone 2 and even a fair bit of zone 3 is permit-holders only. Also you would have to move quite frequently to avoid problems. It did seem like an ideal solution if you could find somewhere to park though, ideally with a tap so that you could plum yourself in and a drain to let waste water drain into. Then go off to fun places on the w/e! Camper vans are quite expensive though unless you do the conversion yourself. My girlfriends sister lived i na canal boat for a while which was cool but maintenance can be expensive. A Hull problem cost her about £4 k I think

Seriously a friend from the CR has hitched frequently. In Europe it's not the same problem as the UK apparently.

What is the typical height and wingspan of a medium to large chicken?
(I am building a coop, but am having trouble figuring out how big to make it)
-
• #2697
useful to bear in mind that you will need to clean it inside every so often to prevent killer things like red spider mite. if you design easy access it will save annoyance later on.
-
• #2698
Nope, sizes not in there. Ive already looked at that. They are selling a book with plans. I just want to know how big they are so I can build (with my limited materials) the best house.

Is it carrying a coconut?
