  • any other web designers fancy teaming up on this one?

Is it time to repost the Rapha Smasha?

  • I like the assos Minty ass cream

Will probably give the Rapha floral stuff a whirl at some point

  • Asos chamois cream is also overpriced. Buy cow mousturiser and stick some in a small container to reapply after foodstops. Also keeps leather gloves soft, these of course have to be Rapha.

  • Kevin isn't wearing lycra, he wears jeans with no boxers, with handfuls of Vaseline to stop the chaffing

    Don't stop, I'm nearly there!

    hffnnnnnnggg!

  • 4k titianium/carbon/steel wonder bike

shit tyres, nappy rash creme, aldi gloves.

i never did understand that logic.

  • Gary

    You forgot cheap bibshorts

  • tru dat

  • Embrocation cream is a load of old bollocks.

  • Anyone own Rapha and Santini jerseys? I need to know whether to go for L or XL in Rapha. I have a Santini large and it's toight like a tiger.

I am XL in Rapha (Classic ss) and XXL in Santini (Giro centenary retro top) and the Santini is still tighter than the Rapha

    Hope that helps

  • Ooh, interesting. Think I may go for large then. Merci.

    Can't decide which jersey though.

  • Fuck, I want a Rapha soap so badly.

Fucking ridiculous, but it'd crack me up every time I use it.

  • What is embrocation cream? Sounds like a load of old homeopathic twoddle to me.

  • I think it's a bit like Deep Heat with a nicer/pricier smell.

    Mmmm. Deep Heat.

  • I love hearing all the Rapha apologists rush to Rapha's defense on here, absolutely priceless. It's not the prices, it's the bloody awful 'exclusive' marketing toss that winds everyone up. Every product virtually has a cringeworthy description on their site. Makes for amusing reading.

I did not think you were one of the fixie bedwetters

Embrocation is used to help warm up muscles, part of pre race preparation, often applied by the soigneur.

Similar to deep heat but generally a little milder.

Today it has been idiots who don't understand what the products are for criticising and questioning their purpose. Both embrocation and chamois cream are very useful, there are plenty of different types of both.

Most cycling companies employ ridiculous hyperbole describing their products.

  • James, I like you concise summary better than:

"Rubbing embrocation into your legs not only helps give you vital headspace ahead of a long training ride but the massaging action also loosens muscles and helps release antioxidants"

  • I was in Selfridges earlier looking at the Rapha / Paul Smith bags. The jerseys design is ace IMO, the peloton/mini design not so much.

  • Well, massage is often used to relax the mind and it does loosen the muscles, stimulate blood flow etc, not sure about the antioxidant bit though.

  • I like Rapha clothing because you can see where the money goes. Even the t-shirts are really, really good t-shirts.

They could definitely do without the wankier bits of copywriting though. I can take or leave the "stories" but the mythologising gets a wee bit silly at times. The way I approach it is to take it with a pinch of salt and judge the products on their merits.

I know it does, but it doesn't necessarily require embrocation cream does it? Look, I know nothing about it but the spiel makes it sound stupid.

    Wise words.

  • soma frames "**Soma juice in old Hindu scripture is an intoxicating drink, a drink of the gods. And since its introduction, it has intoxicated many new riders into loving the 29" wheel platform.

Big wheels let you flow over terrain that used to make you squirm. The Juice balances nimbleness and stability that other 29ers hope to match. Run it as a single-speed or geared.
        Get "juiced" today."

Assoss "**In order to further increase riding comfort, we recommend the use of ASSOS Chamois Crème. The ASSOS Chamois Crème reduces friction and keeps your skin cooler. It prevents inflammation and has antibacterial properties. Apply directly on the skin (avoid intimate areas) before each ride. Furthermore, after every laundering, apply a thin layer onto the shorts' insert. This to maintain suppleness, elasticity and antibacterial properties. Used by many professionals regardless of the brand of their shorts. ASSOS Chamois Crème – simply a must. Don't leave home without it! ASSOS Chamois Crème makes long rides more enjoyable and comfortable, by reducing friction and preventing bacterial and fungal infections on your skin. Apply a thin layer of Chamois Crème to your skin and padded insert before you ride."
