I think this is a good move and im sure it is just the prelude of it being indoors at the London velodrome in a couple of years

Guaranteed bright sunshine for April 11 2011 then, anyone want to organise an open meeting?

Got a refund cheque for this years ticket yesterday which was unexpected.

But I wanted to enter, and I'm (more) rubbish indoors.
I think there are some downsides too. It will just become 'another race' in the Manchester calendar, rather than the real big one at Herne Hill.
Looks like I will have to put in a lot more time indoors over the winter.

You haven't been to Herne Hill on a sunny Saturday morning or a warm summer evening with the sun setting, have you!

I got sunburned at Good Friday meet 2007 so nyer.
That doesn't mean building 'dromes without a lid in England is a smart idea.
I've seen more racing in Manchester then Herne Hill. I wonder why?

Probably cancelled about 3 Saturday sessions in total this year, so on balance I think it's a bl00dy smart idea. Wonderful place to ride.

What do you base this on?
London average rain fall 583 mm
Sydney average rain fall 1210 mm
Hardly any events rained off at HH this year.

It was a very difficult decision to make but we had a choice - get rained off again, go bankrupt and lose the Meeting or go inside and save the Meeting. Still planning on a DernyFest meeting at HH next year and also a Motor Paced event with the Triumphs later in the year (after the rainy season).:-)

Oh, the extra 1000 hours of sunshine per year might help dry out any outdoor 'dromes, unlike here.

At least you won't have to abort your flying 200 because you are slipping around on a wet track and being hit by 35mph gusts of wind.
Although I guess the race formats will change slightly to suit the indoor track (think of the handicap sprint) and the rider numbers reduced accordingly, so as it's supposed to be an international invitation meeting the local HH bods who were kindly allowed to join in before will likely not feature.
