  • What're you doing to the trackonndale?

    This aimed at me?

It's getting all the black paint cleaned off, drivetrain cleaned, new chain, new tyres, new bartape... Headset from the road bike is going on it 'til I get another Chris King.

Max i had some of those Tifosi forks and they were pretty bulletproof - however i don't think that they are going to make any noticeable difference to the weight of the bike, as they have an alloy steerer - to make any real weight saving on the dale, i would have though only a carbon steerer is going to do the trick due to the size of the bike, but i woyuldnt want to use a carbon steerer for couriering me self

I think even if the steerer is aluminum it will still make a significant difference to the weight*. For example, the weight of my track frame on it's own ( no fork) is fucken astonishing. It's like it is filled with helium.

I don't really care about making my bike super light, I just know it'll be a lot lighter if I ditch the steel.

I thought the fork was needed to permit an upgrade to threadless

Yeah this. The only reason my bikes have quill stems is because my forks say so.
