I have never seen any solid evidence that the wagonwheel has decreased in size. I am firmly in the camp that believes that, having had the wagonwheel as such a packed lunch staple, we are disappointed by scale when remembering back to such formative, and diminutive, times.
I guess this was all covered on the train tho, missing such intellectual cut and thrust must be one of the perils of riding back.
