Fucking bollocks.
Thanks to Gus for the return ticket. I can get a bit superstitious, and the snapped front spoke was the last straw. Seeing as it happened about 1 minute after leaving the station, I took it as a sign to abandon (and didn't really want to have a compromised braking surface in those conditions, or fuck about retensioning until I'm more sure it's a one off rather than a trend).
I've replaced it now (only 2 spares left). Will thrash the wheel closer to home before our next outing, and see which of my 2 theories about the snappage is correct…
Thanks also for the offer of front wheels.
We need to make sure there is more than one confident navigateur of each route in attendance :/
