Why did the young girl up sticks and stow away with him, then seemingly bleed him dry for swanky clothes!? And why wasn't she missed? And why did no-one question who she was, and what she was doing with an old geezer?!
What was the significance of the book he left on the table? Who was in the photograph he had on the train at the end? Why did he leave so suddenly?
