For me, despite the attendant pro teams and, erm, Anglo-Welsh-centric route, the coverage on ITV89 is piss poor and really bush league. Pro athletes are notoriously boring, but the combined yawn fest of Downing and Jones on commentary is just dull dull dull.
That said, Constitution Hill was/is gnarly.

As a swansea resident I can confirm that constitution hill is horrific to try and ride up, worse in the wet not to mention how rough the area round the top is,. Throwing stones at passers by seems to be somewhat of permeant occupation for the some local kids

Agreed, Downing may be a pro but he's not good TV. Graham Jones neither.
I dunno if Big Maggy is exclusive to Eurosport but he's miles better.

going up constitution hill looked mad
they look like me after 6 pints trying to do swains lane ... i.e. at 1 mph and very wobblyis it just me or is it only really the tour de france that gets you going ? the world top cyclists household names great excitement on the longer climbs etc then it comes to the tour de britain and i feel a bit underwhelmed

i dont really get that tbh, how much other racing have you watched? - there is great racing to watch in tons of other races, including this years tour of britain - the king of the mountains competition is good this year -
the tour de france is epic, granted and there are always loads of big stories unfolding - but for racing i love watching the spring classics - -

Looking forward to tomorrows stage in Norwich. Few sprint stages, nice climbs and an end by the coast = fish and chips for dinner (for me not the racers!)

I really want one of these (Rapha Tour of Britain top) - they are selling them from their little van on the final four stages (so that's today's, tomorrow's, Friday and Saturday).
I can't get to any of these, could anyone pick one up for me? Can pay the thank you in pints, cakes, pharmaceuticals, whatever you want really! I would be supremely grateful.

Pissed off the London stage now has them riding round industrial estates in Docklands like dirty triathletes thanks to the pope.
Any idea if there anywhere hospitable on the route where one might sup a pint whilst watching?
