Looks a bit shabby, but no one can see it anyway can they. Chopped up a motorbike tyre i got for free from the local garage.
only hard thing is cutting it to shape, the carcass (the bit the rubber sits on) is really quite difficult to cut to shape, but i found a pair of good leverage scissors do the job.
also i stuck the whole rubber over the screws in some places, with a recessed hole in the rubber (using a big drill bit and a drill) to stop it sticking up.
Impact glue, having left to become very sticky works really well.
I then used some super glue to stick any remaining edges in place that didn't stick after being left under the sofa to compress overnight.
