Has anybody ever heard back from that Roadsafe site? Just curious if they do follow up on these because I did file one quite a few weeks back and haven't heard anything.
Had a minivan overtake me tonight on a corner on Marshwall only to find a taxi coming in the other lane around the bend so he had to swerve back in and damn near hit me. I caught up with him at the lights at South Quay and he was talking on his mobile. Had a brief conversation with him where he denied seeing me, then said I was too far from the kerb and bikes shouldn't be on the road. Cue green light and him driving off talking on his mobile.
I've got a cold so I'm in a bad mood and his denying everything while talking on the mobile kind of fucked me off so I filed another Roadsafe report. Is it something I need to follow up on or will they really go talk to him/send him a strongly worded generic form letter?

I've never heard back about any of the 3 people I reported on it.
-
• #504
Me neither, but it all goes into the stats which in turn inform future policing priorities, so I still do it.
-
• #505
I've also reported a couple, have a distinct feeling the reports are filed straight into a met bin.
-
• #506
I was just wondering. I'll continue to do it since this lends credence to my theory that the drivers are collected in the middle of the night, roughed up and sent to Guantanamo. Hence the complete lack of incriminating information for the Hague to review.

I will be happy even if they just go in some file somewhere, then if the driver gets stopped for dangerous driving or something, they do a search and see he's been reported before and gets the nick.

Exactly. It also means that the next time dangerous drivers come up in a prioritisation process, there's no scope to claim lack of evidence of a widespread problem.

Yes they do get back to you (in most cases).
There is a slight issue with the RoadSafe site though I've noticed. If you take ages to fill in form the site times out in the background, but doesn't really let you know. If you press Submit and you don't get a reference number instantaneously, that means it has timed out and you won't get a reply because it hasn't sent off properly.
Now I usually just type the details in Notepad or something and then copy and paste it into the form when I'm ready.
Hope that helps

• #510
Well that's interesting. Both times I've used it it has apparently timed out. Bit of fail, really.
-
• #511
They should fix the problem as there are probably hundreds of reports vanishing into thin air and the person reporting is none the wiser.
-
• #512
I have reported the problem
-
• #513
There's gonna be a lot of reporting going on today... carnage...

Just got a reply from a Friday incident so they usually don't take more than a few days to respond. They do actually get read which is good to know.
They should look something like:
Dear Sir
Thank you for the information you have supplied through the Metropolitan
Police Roadsafe London reporting system.
The information will be reviewed and dealt with accordingly. If we
require any additional information we will contact you.Regards

ive another one for you dj
nearly got swallowed by a hgv's on a A road saturday morning, tires were about 1-1 1/2 foot away from my handle bars, one wobble or a dreaded pot hole and i was a goner, if it wasn't for no traffic at the approaching roundabout (500 yards) i would of dragged the soab out of his cabin and my actions would of spoke louder than words.
was pass by 5-6 hgv's earlier on my ride who all left me a lanes width when over taking, getting much much better, so the word must be getting through finallyhad a phone today but trying to memorize details of a hgv speeding past you at 50mph is extremely hard, even harder when your so angry your mind goes blank and the abuse is rolling of your tongue
its only so long before the dreaded happens at this rate :(

I repeat the licence plate number out loud repeatedly, shouting it at the driver.
This helps me remember it. When I find a safe place to pull up I send myself an email with thenbasic details of the incident.

Fucking cunting coach driver purposely tries to skin me while TT'ing yesterday on the A2070 outside Romney marsh. Fucking inches from me.. I was pretty much head down, and didn't hear him until he was on top of me due to aero helmet and the all out effort. As he swept past he gave me the finger and then tried to skin the rider up the road from me.. Maybe he shouldn't try that shit with SLIVERLINE COACHES all over it.. Quick web search later and and strong letter email to the company..

Can you also send the email to roadsafe?

I'm was just filling out the form but realised it not matter to them as it's really a matter for Kent Police being out in Romney??

I find coach companies to be hopeless at responding to these complaints.
If you don't hear back from the normal 'contact us' type e-mail address, try scouring the internet for the name and e-mail of someone senior in the company. Then write to them saying how unimpressed you are with their company's lack of response and CC in the recipient of the first e-mail. That normally speeds the process up.

just sent this to tfl. lets see if they get back to me.
" On Monday 13/09/2010 I was travelling Eastbound on Piccadilly, near the junctions with White Horse St and Half Moon St . I was cycling in the left-hand lane, about 75 to 85 centimetres from the curb.
A red, double deck London bus passed me in the right lane. At around half it’s length past me, the bus changed lanes quickly, moving from the right to the left lane and taking a position close to the curb.
I was forced to make an emergency stop as the rear of the bus would have struck me from the right hand side as it came parallel with the curb.
I resumed cycling, now perhaps four car lengths behind the bus. The bus slowed to what I perceived to be less than 10 miles an hour ( I do not have a speedometer on the bicycle I was using but do on other bicycles and can gauge my speed fairly accurately when riding a pedal cycle). As there was no traffic behind me, or approaching up the right hand lane, I pulled out to the right and overtook the now slow moving bus positioning myself in the right hand lane. As I reached about half way up the length of the bus it accelerated and drew quickly in to the right hand lane, again cutting me off and again forcing me to make and emergency stop .
I resumed cycling and at the next bus stop I pulled in front of the bus so that I could photograph the number plate (PG04 WHS). At this time the driver started sounding his horn repeatedly and gesturing with his hands despite the fact that with the doors open and passengers boarding and disembarking he was not ready to move off and I was therefore not obstructing his way. As the doors closed I pulled ahead and to the side to allow him to pass, it not being my intention to impede the passage of the bus.
At the very least the driver showed negligence in nearly striking a cyclist twice. I was observing the highway code during both incidents. It is my suspicion, though unfounded, that twice in a row followed by the repeated sounding of the horn and gesticulating, indicates an aggressive driver who may take issue with cyclists and may have intentionally cut me up. I would have been clearly visible during both incidents, either through the windshield looking ahead or in the wing mirrors looking behind. As a matter of safety when cycling in London I position myself in the road for maximum visibility. " -

you can report it as far as i understand
just because it did not happen to you does not mean the crime did not occur
Disappointed. Despite my video showing the incident (a month ago), and clear ID of the taxi driver, no victim report = no crime.
In this circumstance I am unable to take any action because you were not directly involved, but this incident has been noted on our records for monitoring and future reference.
We will be able to take necessary action when the female pedestrian reports the incident to us, and your e-mail will be used as a witness statement.

Lets commit murder, as long as the victim does not report it then no crime happened?
