possibly out already. the once mighty pompey are away at crystal palace that night, so will be joining my brother-from-another for a fest of woeful round-ball action, if he can get tickets

@ fussballclub,
actually, I just didn't want to be the only one without gears. Done that a few times, sometimes it's fine, others I'm struggling to catch up after every downhill!@ BMMF
15mph is fine. Just didn't want to end up trailing behind a 20mph group -

^^That's a conservative 15mph average estimate. On some rides, it's hitting more like 25mph average for the final 5 miles in the front group, and 20mph in the back group. Cruising speed on the flat is usually ~16-19mph.
But you should be fine, as long as don't flake at the first hint of a gradient :)

@BMMF
Sounds okay. If i go out for a 30 mile (ish) sunday ride I usually average about 17 -

Ian, you'll be fine for this.
Also, you're Southgate aren't you? So if it all goes horribly wrong it's not that far getting home from Potters Bar.

Perfect! (In-joke warning)
See you on Tuesday Ian.

I won't be able to make this one but I was thinking of y'all as I was riding around Mount Fuji on Sunday. At night time. There were vending machines on the side of the roads and everything. Fucking vending machines! Bidons are for chumps! :)

Metcheck is currently predicting ~375mph gusts of wind in the London/Hertford area on Tuesday evening.
I'll do my best at the front to offer protection to those behind me...

Happy to share the load at the front if I make it, but will require verbal instructions from second wheel.
Meant to be preparing for a dinner party now... our dinner guests have requested to watch east enders on arrival. Really tempted to just jump on my bike and do the E4 Ecstasy route. Either that or break the TV. What's fucking wrong with people?

Sounds like you've got my missus round for tea.

enders is pretty "epic" at the moment

Hello, I've never TNRC'd before but would love to ride out this Tuesday. I'm in Highgate as well so it's nice and close. Is the ride capped, or is there room for one more?
