  • I have broken my Rapha virginity and now am the proud owner of the Fixed jacket, which is a very tight fit on me....it is nice though....and reassuringly...erm...yeah, expensive (fleabay though)

  • i want a rapha espresso cup + saucer

  • ^ yeah.. When we were having breakfast before doing the Rapha Gents TT I kept telling Mrs. Brave to put a few in her bag.. That's a day she regrets I can tell you

  • ..The tunnels confused the crap out of me - I wasn't sure if my vision was closing in and I was about to pass out, or if it was just the light (there were lights and generators for the race, but even then it was dark).

Been there... Freaks the hell out of you.. Plus you don't know how fast you're going

  • I just couldn't tell what speed I was doing as I had no motion reference and almost fell off as I came to a standstill (tunnel decent in Majorca)

The only time I fell off on my trip earlier this year was cycling through a tunnel quite slowly with a friend and they just toppled over into me - lost the horizon, as you say.

Climbs are long and grueling. This was different. The tunnels took me to a dark and moodily lit place. There was a point, about halfway through, where I wasn't sure if I'd make it - I few times I nearly passed out, but I kept my pace up and made it through the dark.

  • New winter collars, must resist buying the red :)

  • I would, it's not even autumn yet is it?!

So it turns out this lady at work (who is a rather awesome fearless cyclist) has a hubbie who is besties with the people who run/own Rapha. So I have been offered discounted Rapha.

I'm thinking an autumn jacket and some bib shorts would be good, as would an espresso cup and saucer - if you don't ask, you don't get =)

I've already got a swrve milwaukee for when it gets proper cold, so it's between the rain jacket and the stowaway I think. Would the stowaway be too cold for late autumn? I'm assuming the softshell will be too warm for autumn?

  • The Swrve Milwaukee's not only perfect for the English winter, but was spot on for skiing, flexible and thinner than a ski jacket but still plenty warm enough with a base layer or two.

  • The stowaway is perfect for autumn.

  • This has probably been asked before but...

...has Rapha closed on clarkenwell rd? Or are they haveing a refurb or something??

  • The Rapha Cycle Café thing was a temporary space - Rapha don't have a store of their own but Condor (just around the corner) stock pretty much the whole range.

    a base layer or two?
fucking hell, one's enough. that thing is ridiculously hot.

stowaway is currently on my wishlist. just below scarlett johansson.

  • It's pricey though.

    Well, it is nice.

It won't be as nice if it's not as priceeeeeyyyyy.

getting worried about you mate, you need to ride more, and surf less.

  • Well that was a concern, obviously I'm hoping the discount is as small as possible so the gear is as a nice as possible ;)

  • Winter range is on the Rapha site now. Tweed softshell looks nice (if a bit pricey).

  • Really like the Paul Smith rain jacket...but £270 (Pricey)

  • I also like the Paul Smith rain jacket. It's very nice.

  • Thanks for claifying that Regal!

  • You're welcome. FYI it is a bit pricey.

  • neither nice nor pricey
