  • Like all things invented when pissed, there are flaws.
For a start I didn't get all my drinks bought for me, because I had the card. It just seemed like that. And we liked the idea.

    1. Don't like the chairman? don't buy him or her a drink.
    2. You don't have to. If you do happen to be buying a round though...
    3. It's not meant to be exclusive. Just want to hang out? fine. But if you were to put your name in the hat and get elected as next week's chairman you'll get all your drinks bought for you, so its an incentive to come again.

I'm changing rule 6. Surely no approbation stronger than a raised eyebrow is either required or desired.

Should I add rule 8? In keeping with East London's traditions of transparent and accountable democracy, the chairman may rig the election.

  • A lovely evening. By 9 o'clock we were the only people in the pub. nice.

On the way home I decided it looked nice and so next week we will be at The Hemmingway on Victoria Park Rd.

Now, to explain this blaaaah business. This is something blaaah blaah will keep going as it is way blaah. There was a blaaah 'chance' blaah on the table which said "You have blaah blaah Chairman of the blaah" I had blaah blaaah blaah and did not have blaah blaah a blaah almost all blaah.
Therefore to blaah this process, as blaah blaaah I establish the following blaaah.

    1. BLAAAAH. BLAAH BLAAAH, BLAAAAH BLAH BLAH!!!!

    I will laminate the card.
Next week's blaaah is Betty, with Eggpie as blah blaaah.

What ever happened to going to the pub to have a pint?

  • What ever happened to going to the pub to have a pint?

    Kinda agree with this.

This all seems to complicate things.

Oh well, hopefully gonna come down next week as it's our new nearest drinks.

  • What ever happened to going to the pub to have a pint?

    No-one bothered.

  • haha

  • We have to have some rules otherwise Oliver won't come.

On reflection, this morning I agree with Hillbilly.
But what's wrong with a little drinking game?

  • haha
ha! knew you would pipe up at some point :)

  • But what's wrong with a little drinking game?

    ?

  • i dont like rules.

  • agreed. Fuck the rules. Too organised. (I didn't win)

  • If you don't have rules you can't break them.

  • I can break anything

  • I think I broke my kidneys

  • We have to have some rules otherwise Oliver won't come.

Heh, my first thought when reading about this was 'German students'. ;)

I'm not in favour, either. We need to have better rules, like 'everybody's only allowed to drink Belgian, German, or Czech beer'.

(Nicely successful attempt at trolling, Niall, but I think my version is even better.)

sits back and waits for explosion of indignation

    :)

  • When the Germans or Czechs come up with anything that deserves the name "beer" I will be only too happy to sample some.

    Until that day, however...

  • racist

  • Pud looked great!(company looked okay)
Will be joining you guys for a round in the coming weeks.
    Sorry I could not stay.

  • the chairman may rig the election.

I'd like to make clear that this definitely did not happen in any way last night.

Both have already done so. Chances of finding any in an Easts-friendly boozer are limited though.

Belgian beer I'm less convinced by - someone needs to tell them about hops.

    Its fruit though.

  • Busy weekend in Paris for me, and much as I like and admire the Cafe culture over there it had me pining for a good English pub.

As mentioned upthread and in the newly edited first post, this week we shall be at The Hemingway, on the corner of Victoria Park Rd and Skipworth Rd.

This is a pub that has been recently made over in a quirky-but-cool Art Noveau style, and has had very good reviews. And they have a great rum selection

    See you on Wednesday!

  • Bahhh, been wanting to try that place for a month or so but I'm def out again this week.

    Sigh.

Oh, and the beer buying game idea sucks!

    x

  • Pub looks interesting, can't make it this week though.
