• hey thanks for the advice.

I did take his mobile number but I kind of panicked, was in pain and forgot to take details of witnesses.

There was one lady who works locally and thanks to her being very helpful, but yeah I forgot to take her details... :-(

Hopefully everything turns out fine tomorrow..

  • That is a shocker of a lane. If he does not show up tomorrow do not give up.

    +1

And really, do write to the council. That lane is a whole bunch of accidents waiting to happen, many of them (by the sound of it) worse than yours.

A common problem in LB Tower Hamlets, unfortunately.

    Oh, indeed.

    Nice work, chaps.

  • If you were nearsiding the left hand lane of traffic then you deserved what you got.

Sorry but for my language but, fuck off, http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069837 - 65

"Bus Lanes. Most bus lanes may be used by cyclists as indicated on signs. Watch out for people getting on or off a bus. Be very careful when overtaking a bus or leaving a bus lane as you will be entering a busier traffic flow. Do not pass between the curb and a bus when it is at a stop."

I know this is a reply to a post in 2008, but ya' know, it's good to shout, and something similar happened to me today with some dick doing a 3 point turn in a bus lane, not noticing that i was right behind him before he spung out into a fat bloke doing a ballet on the road, and just as he finished doing his maneuver of brilliance in a bus lane, he noticed me, stopped mid flow and expected me to just float either around or over the top of his bonnet.

Brief words where exchanged but to be honest, the intelligence of the Wayne Rooney look-a-like wasn't worth damaging anymore than his mum/long lost father 'left me at birth' deserved

  • Had my own experience today...
There I am, happily tootling along down Peckham Hill Street, riding with traffic and not trying to overtake anything. In front of me is a navy Honda with a tribal dragon motif on the bonnet (which I discover later on) and it's going sooooo sloooow. I stay behind it anyway, in the centre of the lane where only Stevie Wonder wouldn't see me in the rear view mirror. We come up to a zebra crossing. I wait for the peds to finish crossing then pass the car on the left... BOOM! The guy kicks his door open on me ON PURPOSE and stays in the car. I hit the deck into a street sign and proceed to dust myself off and give the c&%t shit. The geezer was some drug dealer looking type with a gold tooth and whilst I was kicking off he asked whether I 'didn't see the door?' Just as I'm about to turn his cockmobile into a convertible the fuzz turn up, who saw the whole thing. PC asks me if I'm ok, that he saw it all and does he penalise these guys? Nope. Just an on your way. Lucky f&%k.

There, I feel better now, even though I have two golf balls on my arm.

Prancer, do you have a link to this thread?

I've just been reading Roxy's thread about what to do in an accident and kinda feel fobbed off by the PC...

Thanks man. Part of me thinks that I don't really have the time, money or patience to pursue it like that, but then part of me feels obligated to teach that b&%tard a lesson and make him think twice about doing it to some other poor soul...

  • It would be a no win no fee case

V little time or effort but you get money and fuck his no claims bonus

Just called the coppers. We'll see what happens. Cheers Prancer.

  • Hold on; he was the driver, the only person in the car? It was a right-hand drive car? And he leaned across to open the door on you on purpose? And the copper saw this and did nothing? You should pursue this all the way, both against the driver and the copper.

Nope, it was the passenger. He said he was getting out but then didn't and stayed in the car. The guys did it for a laugh, you could tell by the smirk on their faces while I was 'having words'...

  • Another tip:

Folk are most likey to do the surprise jump outta the cab around Stations.

What does it cost to just stick on hazzard lights if folk are alighting??

  • Similar happened to me a few years ago, thought I had broken my collarbone(has never been right since) guy got out of his car shouting and swearing, with me in ignorant agony sat on the curb + a buckled front wheel. Told him to fuck off and carried my bike home, went to hospital where the police talked me out of taking it further as he was a doctor (turns out he was delivering medication FOR a g.p.) it's too late to do anything about now I reckon..

Well, that's assault. You could have been seriously injured through his action. It may be too late to make a report now, but don't blame yourself--in the first rush of adrenaline, it is very hard to think straight, and the pain is usually masked, making it very difficult to assess yourself. A friend of mine once nearly had his ear sliced off on an aerial, but didn't notice until the guilty cab driver pointed out to him that he was bleeding profusely. Good luck if you do choose to pursue it, and yes, definitely get a good solicitor in that case.

  • Riding past the Canonbury Tavern a few moments ago when some prissy bitch almost doors me. Luckily I was a yard or more out and so she missed. "Thank you" I said as I passed. She yelled some abuse at me. Happily I am about to shower and change and go to a Charity Auction at the Canonbury tonight and she looked as though she was an organiser. I will recognise her. I was wearing cycling goggles, a cap and a helmet. Good chance she won't recognise me. Must work on some pithy and subtle abuse. Also means I don't have to bid for anything.

  • Now, now, Clive.
    remember?
