  • quite a few people have told me they like that one, i much prefer the one above it though.

*considers the fact that GA2G might be taking the piss

    *runs away**

  • Nope. I don't take the piss with photography. I do like that shot.

  • This thread reminds me to pick up my film developing kit from my parents and start developing more film.

Also reminds me that I need to clear the spare room so I've got somewhere to scan film. hmmm.

  • This thread's been quiet for a while? After years of shopping around various shops/labs I've settled on Darkside off Old Street http://www.darksidephoto.co.uk/ I don't know if they're super fantastic quality, but I just like going there and giving them my money. They're not snobby.

For a short while Acrom were nice too, they're a German outfit I think that set up shop in West London somewhere (too far out - I didn't like going) but it didn't last.

ETA: My experience on the others YMMV

Jessops 7 day /massive Kodak regional lab: got progressively worse, mad scratching.

Snappy Snaps: franchise, so prices and quality of service varies, but the London Bridge branch had poor attitude, cut across frames and refused to apologise, then wouldn't reprint a bunch of prints that had red stripes running through them - from varying film types so not a film batch issue like they claimed but probably a pixel out on their precious printer.

Metro: Good quality, not bad price with a student discount, but hate the way they look at you like something they just stepped in. Also, not so much student discount these days i believe.

    Acrom: German, lovely service. Closed.

Rapid Eye: ... can't remember. Think i only used them once or twice but if it was anything disastrous i would remember.

  • Haven't posted in here for a while. here are a few recent ones...

got another 2 rolls to get developed tomorrow.

  • Cracking good.

  • well, he is a well seasoned poseur.....

  • Excellent exposure helps :)

  • haha.... thanks!

  • HP5 on the little XA2 I bought of Spags, I never thanked you enough for that mate, wicked little camera! The flash was busted and I can't seem to find the fault, but doesn't matter. I bought a XA3 and an A11 a few days later too. My olympus obsession is growing.

p.s. I'm shite at photography (click for proof), but criticism is welcome and all too easy.

  • ^^nice shot!

  • LooKing for an F100 if anyone is selling.

  • Yeah, A Yashica T4 would be lovely. Always mong it and miss ebay auctions.

  • Olympus Trip 35 is your best bet.

I found it ironically similar to my Lomo LC-A, it's simple, no battery required (have a working light metres solar powered), focusing is 'click' and looking through the viewfinder you can see the distance marked on the lens which is handy, tough and practical.

there's already I think 400 millions in circulation, so can be brought for cheap (like dollars).

mydearboy, the photos' lovely, that's something I like to see.

Thanks ed. Picked one up off the ebay for just over a tenner. Look forward to shooting with it!

  • Ive tried to see if this has been asked before, and Im sure it has, but I just cant find it.

Whereaboutsis the cheapest place in London for getting film developed and printed? Ive heard of somehwere near brick lane thats meant to be cheap but surely theyd have inflated prices for all the cool kids around there?

  • Here you go:

Snappy snaps is probably the cheapest, but results are not always reliable. Not all do medium format. Brixton does, though. I'm about to send off some snaps to Peak Imaging, tip c/o spenceey. We'll see how that works...

  • Would be interested to hear reports about peak imaging

I dropped a few rolls at http://www.rapideye.uk.com/ on Leonard Street the other week. Not silly expensive (15 a roll for dev+scan, 13 if it's 3 or more) and good results. nice people too

  • Sorethroat - Eye Culture on Fashion Street, E2 is pretty good. Process and scan is less than a fiver as long as it isn't colour slide. Can't remember how much exactly but it was defo less than a fiver.

  • Peak Imaging had gotten positive reports every time I've checked.

  • Do eye culture print as well?

wow that's dead cheap. good results too? happen to know what they charge for slide film?

first impression is that the order form is an intimidating monster, perhaps it will be worth it!
