And as this ride was done under the auspices of Tweed, it seems only right to dish out a few awards. The Tweed Excursion is run on a rather limited budget, so awards are limited to honourable mentions.
Most stylish attire: General Lucifer, whose impeccable taste did not wane in the last burst of summer.
Most sterling performance on a classic hill climb: tilover, who faced down Winnats Pass on a double chainring and still managed to reach the top looking fresh.
Downright good facial hair: Johnny Crash.
Best beer of the day: Robinsons, served a scant 100 metres from the brewery.
A cautionary note to any prospective Winnats Pass riders, a pint of tea at the Woodbine Cafe in Hope may seem like a good idea, but there were reports of a non-condiucive sloshing feeling on the slopes.
